So, I just saw on Smatpak that they have the no knot hairnets. I’ve been using a one knot for years, but I have EXTREMELY thick hair. My hair is about mid-length, but it’s really thick. Has anybody tried them with thick hair and how do they compare to the one knot?
If you’re used to using a normal hairnet and securing it with two hair ties like I am, it’s a hard transition. I have long, curly hair and LOTS of it. Let me also lead with I am neurotic when it comes to how my helmet fits and how my hair feels inside my helmet.
Typically with a one knot hairnet I would put my hair in a low pony, put hairnet over, and secure another hair tie around the existing ponytail + hairnet extras. But more times than not my hairnet would pull back on my head or move or if my helmet moved I would have to re-do my hair (again, neurotic). The way that the no knot hair net is engineered there’s no “extras” like a typical hairnet and in order to get “extras” you have to pull the heavy duty elastic super tight - imagine a gigantic headache and an deep indentation on your forehead that may or may not go away (ask me how I know).
Needless to say, I do use one. Low pony with two hair ties, pull hairnet up and position elastic band in a comfortable place, helmet on and go. Because it has the heavy duty elastic it stays in place much easier and holds my hair much better.
They do take a little while to get used to and do hold all my frizzies in - which is a feat in itself! I would suggest trying them!
Odd, I find that the no not are exactly the same weight and consistency of one-knot, just with…well no knot. However, it’s kind of a misnomer because there is still one side where it has the hair net bunched up to make it come together. Just flat instead of knotted. It’s a cheap buy and worth a try for the price.
Do you mean the RWR ones that are a tube? They absolutely rock, particularly if you already have a long oval head. No more headaches and pressure points.
I have really thick hair, they work fine, probably better actually. I usually just stuff my hair into it, and adjust my hair to get a better/safer helmet fit. My trainer uses the RWR hairnet, but she uses it like a traditional hairnet and makes a ponytail and and then flips the ponytail on top of her head.
I have really long hair, not that thick, and pretty straight and smooth. I hated the RWR tube hairnet haha it would NOT stay in place!
Huh, I have some no knot hair nets that are not RWR…they’re just no knot. Which I found at farmvet and love. I can’t find them online…but man they are some nice hairnets.
I have one that is like a tube - is that the RWR one that people are referencing? I like it because until then I had actually been cutting up control-top panty hose and using those but the two seams would give me a headache and the pantyhose were a little tight on my head. I have long hair and the regular single-knot hairnets stopped working for me when my hair got to a certain length. The no-knot hairnet does a good job of containing all my hair and I’m very happy with it!
The tube-like RWR hairnet is what I use. I don’t have particularly thick hair, but it’s long and I have a LOT of it. If I’ve just gotten it cut, I can use a RWR hairnet on its own (especially if I’ve also straightened my not-quite-wavy-not-quite-straight hair). Once my hair gets longer, though, I use it the more the way HP’s trainer does it: I make a low ponytail and use the hairnet to hold it flipped up.
I am a ride or die devotee to one knot hair nets. Can’t stand the no knot ones. Two knots give me major headaches.
I have long, thick, curly hair and I love the RWR No-knot (tube like) hair net.
Works best I find to pull the whole thing over your head and let it sit under your loose hair around your neck like a necklace. No ponytail required!! Then grab the end with the thin edging and pull that straigh up over your head and face. You should at this point have the net completely covering your head. I then move the wide edge (still at the base of your head) and move it up to my desired positioning around my hairline. Flip my head upside down, smoosh hair evenly around and put my helmet on back to front. Smoosh hair a bit around ears to achieve desired Hunter hair effect. Buckle helmet and done. Works a charm every time. No headaches, no pressure spots and added bonus - often I can shake my hair out after taking my helmet off and it’s still presentable to wear down. Somehow my curls don’t get as mangled as with normal hair nets and pony tails.
Thanks guys! I just decided to go on ahead and get one and try it. If I like it, I’ll use it, and if I don’t, I’ll use a regular one knot.
I use mine all the time to school and show. I used to hate wearing a hairnet because I always had a few hairs that would escape and make me crazy!! The no knot hairnet is so easy. It’s snug at first, but after you wear it a few times, it relaxes to be more comfortable.
When mine gets stinky in the summer, I just lather up with hand soap in the sink or wash rack and then rinse out and hang it up to dry. They are very durable and should last you a while.
I like the look of the no knot nets but after an hour or two, the elastic starts cutting into my ears and hurting. Does anyone else share my pain?
I found the ones I was talking about! They are called what knot? Really great for those of you who like one knot. Just a flat space where the knot should be.
I have a no knot hairnet and it is amazing. I put it on like a headband and then take the “stretchy” part and bring it back. Ideally, I would use no hair tie, but my helmet only fits me if I have both. Anyway, they are AMAZING!
