I like the course a lot. Some great rides. Anyone know who is commentating?
I am! Have a clipping client riding in it. Was very happy to have the commentator remark on his turnout!
Nice!!! Commentator obviously quite knowledgeable but quite monotone
Is she Canadian? She said “Zed” for My Pride Z
I’m watching. No idea who the monotone commentator is.
I will say, between the hunter finals yesterday, the classic today, and the Festival of Champions last week… my workday has been much more enjoyable.
Connie Tramm Hunt is the commentator. While she may be a bit monotone, I like her measured well thought out responses to each ride. She finds nice things to say about the riders and horses, while also explaining/pointing out any mistakes. After watching a few rounds I was definitely a lot quicker to pick up the intricacies of the course because of her commentary.
Also I like that she doesn’t go into any personal details about the riders, like who they train with, what they have won in the past. It’s nice because then I don’t have a preconceived opinion about how they will do. I’ve found some commentary for some medals to be more about all the gossip or being sure not to insult some BNT or worse trashing a junior rider.
I think that any rider in the class could listen to the what she said about their round and feel like it was fair.
I agree Jo, this is making for an enjoyable day!
I appreciate the type of commentary as well. On the Festival of Champions last week, I found the commentary to be the same and they included what would be needed to improve on the scores. There were always nice comments throughout the test even when the test didn’t go as planned.
Agreed on her knowledgeable and kind commentary. Just took a minute to get used to her tone.
Is the stream on USEF Network?
Totally agree – the commentary substance was great but a little bit of inflection would have been appreciated  I really enjoyed the class - nice course and a lot of good rides, and I appreciated how the commentator managed to provide a lot of constructive observations, but still had something positive to say about everyone.
I think the commentary is great, and I am grateful for it. I could swear I heard her give a little gasp at one rider’s choice
I didn’t watch but this is the kind of commentary I enjoy most. We need more of it and less of some of the people who have judged medal finals in the past. I can live with a monotone if necessary.
It was one of those things that you just had to get used to, and once you did, you stopped paying attention to it and were just waiting to hear what she had to say because her substance was really good! It wasn’t bothersome, it was just kind of serious, I guess?? But monotone or not she was a real value-add to the livestream!
I really enjoyed the commentary too. Pointed out good and not so good aspects of the rounds, while still being very kind and encouraging to the riders. I thought she did an excellent job.
Agreed! Once I got used to her tone I thought it was fabulous!!
She did a great job all weekend during the junior hunter finals as well and I though Jacob Pope was also lovely as a commentator. He was with her for the majority of the hunter finals. Always found something nice to say about each rider and horse even if things went awry and was constructive with comments when an error was made and talked about how that might have happened and what one could have done to maybe prevent it. I always find the commentary so interesting to get a judges point of view on things they like and don’t like.
Unfortunately I didn’t get to see any of the hunters. But I will watch the replay next chance I get
I would have liked to see, but wasn’t aware it was going on. How did you find out- did you go to the website and see the schedule, or did you get an email? Maybe I unsubscribed from a list I shouldn’t have.
I follow USEF on Facebook and they post when they’re doing a live stream.
I got an email from USEF (I assume because I’m a member?) that it was live streaming.
