Noble Outfitters 4 in 1 Blanket System

Anyone buy these and use them recently? Reviews seem to be really mixed. I like the idea of not having to have multiple blankets laying around. Space is limited at the boarding barn so that is a huge plus. But I am worried with the number of reviews I have seen about poor water proofing. It is much more affordable than the 600$+ Rambo system I have seen. New girl looks like she is going to be one of those that get chilled easy or at least while she is still growing her winter coat so I am needing to pick something up her size because she of course can’t fit in anything else I already have.

I look forward to reading what others have to say about this product. I had never heard of it and looked it up after reading your post.

To me it looks like a miserable experience trying to insert correctly some liner layer inside the one cover.
I picture it on a day where my horse comes in and has those annoying icicles hanging down from their blanket and trying to open the zipper and insert a different insert.

I haven’t tried the Noble Outfitter one, but am going to try Weatherbeeta’s line. I have the sheet, and then ordered both the med/lite and medium liners. They also have heavy and extra heavy, but I don’t need those here in NW Washington. It looks like they just clip in the front and the leg straps clip together in the back. I love how the sheet fits Remy, so I hope the system works out and I can sell off a few blankets.

Oh my god that looks like a miserable experience. Anything with zipper is awful in the mud or ice. The belly strap plastic buckle things look breakable. Those inserts look like they’ll shift and bunch. One selling point of a liner system is that the liners are easy to wash, so you can keep the surface next to the horse cleaner, and washing them doesn’t risk the waterproof coating on the outer blanket. Since these go inside the blanket, you don’t even get that benefit. Changing them out in the video looks awkward as all hell, and that’s the best it can go?

Sorry to be so negative, but wow, this looks like a nightmare. This is a wheel that did not need to be reinvented. If you want a liner blanket system, go with a liner blanket system.

I looked at it when it first came out- it was a big nope for me. We use Rambo turnout sheets and liners. We can layer them if need be. It’s worked well for years for us.

I laughed when they showed the person casually shoving it in the opening and the edit to a scene where they are velcroing the two liners together. Totally not showing the struggle of getting the liner in there all the way.

I need a whole wardrobe for this new one. The price point is very attractive for something that could cover any temperature range we might have. I have honestly never used anything “warmer” than a sheet on my hairy older mare but I think this new one is going to be a bit more delicate. Spending 600+ to get a couple of the nicer blankets or liner system isn’t a priority right now so I was hoping this less expensive all in one might be decent for this year.

The Rambo prices are just crazy to me. The initial turnout price plus a liner or two is more than I am wanting to spend currently. I know many people swear by them but I have had too many horses come and go in the last couple years to be willing to invest in that. Maybe if this one stays with me for a whole year I will take the plunge before next winter.

Your options aren’t limited to Rambo or this. If you want a liner system, there are plenty at a price point south of Rambo that make a lot more sense then shoe horning (literally) into this.

A couple of boarders at my previous barn tried the Noble Outfitter’s system. By about week 2, our barn manager threw her hands up and refused to deal with them. Way too difficult and time consuming to switch out the liners all the time.

Schneider’s makes a variety of liners in different weights and some reasonably priced, durable turnout options. If you don’t want a whole bunch of turnouts, those might be a good option without the hassle of zipping and unzipping.

Equus Now has the turnout sheets on sale right now on line.

Try their Amigo Bravo line - they fit pretty similar to Rambo and have good durability but a much better price point. You do give up the perfect cut of the Rambo blankets but I haven’t had any other issues. Horseware lines work under pretty much all of the horseware turnouts. I even use a regular HW liner under a Rambo Wug successfully.

I purchased this setup & ended up giving it away. Not made for a horse with any type of withers.

Pros…liners are pretty easy to install. Seemed waterproof for the short time I had it. I went with a Rambo and never looked back.

You have a lot of cheaper options besides just Rambo/Horsewear Ireland. You could buy a sheet and liners from another brand, or you could get a combination of separate a sheet, medium, and even a heavy.

@Jealoushe introduced me to this site:

https://www.rideawaystore.com/

I bought two blankets from there, one is kind of wonky but the other was a fabulous deal.

I’m local to Chicks and when I need a cheap blanket in a normal size (70-80ish), I usually grab one there. They hold up fine.

Search Amazon, too— you can find good prices.

If you can’t afford anything fancy, I would buy the best quality new turnout sheet you can afford and then look for inexpensive used turnout blankets you can use with it. Even if they turn out not to be very waterproof you can throw the sheet over them on wet days. I typically replace my horses’ sheets every couple of years and the blankets every 5-10 years (a couple are even older) and they aren’t anything special. Mostly Saxons and Weatherbeetas and a couple of Pessoas.

I have one, but am not going to be terribly helpful as I’ve never added any of the weighted liners. I’ve had it for two years and just starting using the sheet part this year since I have my guy clipped. I do like how all the straps attach! It’s a bit long on his short little legs :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

I second Schneiders…they have a line of blankets called “Warrior” made of 1680 denier ballistic nylon, and a really nice liner system…
These blankets will last at least 10 years and often longer

The Schneider’s Warrior line has been a godsend for us, too. My young TB and his buddies are menaces to society in turnout. I went through a painful number of blankets and hoods (Stormshield, SP Ultimate, etc) before making the investment in the Warriors. Worth every penny. Those blankets held up without so much as a snag through all of last winter and are back in use now.

If you anticipate that your new horse is going to be rough on blankets but don’t want to splurge on a whole wardrobe of Warrior blankets, I’d get just the sheet and then a couple of different liners or stable blankets to go underneath. That gives you options without as big an expense or the hassle of built in liners.

Putting in a plug for Premier Equine liners which are half the price of HW and much nicer. Because they have snaps you can use them under all different brands. In a big fan.

(Oops, was trying to respond to the post on the Bravo line.)

This is what I use, and I’m happy with these. The 4-in-1, really, you’re not saving all that much room, are you? You’re storing those extra fill pieces. Seems it would be easier to store a sheet than store this fill material.
