I only have saddle pad slip issues in the winter (likely winter hair contributing). Anyone have solutions or non-slip saddle pads they’re super happy with?
For years, I always used the Nunn Finer non-slip pad. The pad works, but I don’t understand the sizing of the thing-- it’s too small to fit evenly under even racing exercise saddles, and it’s thick enough that I worry about pressure points.
Then I found these non-slip saddle towels from a bygone era:

I love them! Like all saddle towels, they are generous in size. They fit entirely under even large all purpose saddle pads and have enough excess to fold a flap over the top pad for security. They do their job of preventing slippage, plus they keep my fabric saddle pads nice and clean. To wash them, you can either hose them, dunk them in a bucket, or just throw them in the wash. They are cheap enough that I don’t care if they get destroyed, however, I have some that are probably a decade old.
An instructor once suggested using the rubbery shelf liner as an inexpensive anti-slip pad to put under the saddle (if it is sliding against the pad) or under the saddle (if the whole things is sliding on the horse). My saddle was slipping on my pad and it worked for me.
I use the rubbery pads that go under rugs. I found a nice brown one at TJ Maxx that I made 2 from. Plus they are ventilated unlike the Nunn Finer ones.
I use one of these https://marystack.com/gel-eze-under-bandage/ when I jump. It is not technically a non-slip pad, but I know many people who use them for that. It works better than any non-slip pad that I have ever used and it doesn’t seem to rub my sensitive TB like some others have.
The older thinline half pads had a neoprene-like Surface that kept my saddle from slipping. I don’t think the newest versions have that same material though.
I have always bought the nunn finer no slip pads, but for the last few years, they’ve been lasting like 3 months. They seem to crack right down the middle. I figured it was a fluke and bought more, but same fate! I switched to the gel-eze and they’ve been awesome. I’ve had those for 2 years now and no complaints. I’d be interested in trying the ones you posted.
I actually use this for a non-slip pad: https://www.sstack.com/Horse-BootsWraps_Therapy/Gel-EzeT-Hot-N-Cold-Wrap/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIzc65_oXe2AIVwkwNCh2o2QzAEAQYCSABEgIX1fD_BwE
I have this pad ^^^ for my jumping saddle and it works well; for my dressage saddle, I use the standard non slip contoured pad: https://www.doversaddlery.com/nunn-finer-contour-ultra-pad/p/X1-19749/
My mare is shaped like a tube and has a wide, flat back and is NOT uphill, so even though the dressage saddle is well fitted and tree size is correct AND I use a Total Saddle Fit girth (on both saddles), it still works its way forward when I ride - despite the non-slip pad underneath.
For Christmas, I asked for the Acavello pad - it’s sitting in a box waiting for my mare’s month-long winter vacation to be over!, I’ll try it on her on Friday when I sit on her again for the first time.

I’m HOPING it does the trick! Will report back here…
When using the gel-eze leg wrap against the horse as a non-slip pad, do you use it as a wither pad, or try to center it lengthwise under the saddle? I’m specifically trying to address side-to-side slippage on my very well sprung Andy cross.
I used an Acavallo pad on my P.R.E that helped. I think it was their “active pad”…I just went for their thinnest gel pad that would hinder saddle fit the least. His saddle fit, but he has a forward girth groove, was butt high, and little withers. He’s since grown up, has a withers and the saddle stays in place better, but I thought the Acavallo did a fine job. It was ~40 Euro.
The Acavallo pad has been a revelation!
Two BIG thumbs up; problem fixed for my saddle slippage issues (described upthread) and I’ve never looked back
HIGHLY recommend it!, and it provides a little cushion as well - with no appreciable bulk.
I began using this on my round pony, and we’ve had no slippage since: https://www.ridingwarehouse.com/Professionals_Choice_Non-Slip_Under_Saddle_Pad_Liner/descpage-PCNSP.html
The girth loops and the tabs that go under/around the billets are most secure.
