Non slip Pad- Acavallo gel pads??

Hello everyone, I’m looking for no slip pad recommendations. I just started leasing a horse that is OVERWEIGHT at the moment and shaped like a barrel with no withers. He’s a Perch TB cross, first generation, definitely took after his Perch dad. He’s in a wintec that fits him decently with an ecogold pad but the pad really doesn’t do much. He has a neoprene girth that’s a bit too stretchy but I will be fixing that soon, hopefully with an anatomic girth (?). I recently came across the acavallo gel pads and they look really promising and very sticky. Has anyone every used those?

The saddle tends to slip from side to side, neither forward nor back. He’s docked so I can’t use a crupper, but I use a breastplate every time I ride.

Yes, I used one for exactly this purpose and it is quite sticky - especially if you keep it clean. Now my horse has withers so I’m good again but it did help a lot. I have the “massaging gel” one that is available here and I put it with the big nubs up against the saddle panels - I don’t think it was comfortable for the horse with the big nubs down.

Acavallo also makes pads that have the sticky gel on both sides - not available here (though a dealer could order them for you) but available from the UK and prices are quite good right now.

I had way better luck with the Acavallo than I did with any of the neoprene non slip pads, shelf liner, etc that people are often recommending. Ecogold pads really didn’t do it either.

I’d probably buy this one versus the massaging one if I were doing this again:

I have used the blue squishy pads that can double as a cold wrap. I have no idea what they are called. They feel kind of gel like? Seemed to work well!

Great, thanks for your help everyone! I have heard of the blue one too. I think it’s called Gel Eze?

Yeah, I didn’t have a lot of luck with this one, it’s not contoured to the horses back so my horse was irritated by it and it isn’t very sticky once it gets dirty.
