Nona Garson Prestige-Anyone Familiar?

So my saddle hunt still continues. I had to down grade from a Butet that my trainer “gave” to me but wouldn’t let me have (another story for another day). So anyway, I’m looking for a saddle under $1000 that can please my spoiled butt  So If anyone is familiar with this saddle or others in my price range let me know! Also and Used Saddle sites are helpful too!

Have a client with a Nona, one she bought 4-5 years ago and I still love it. If you can get one under $1k I would snatch it up, I think it was $3k or so new 5 years ago…

Agreed, if you can find a Nona under $1000, grab it (assuming it fits). I paid about $3500 for mine 5 years ago and now have it in on consignment in a tack shop asking $2200. Loved the saddle but I sold the horse it fits.

I was riding in a Presitge Equipe a while back. It was, by far, my favorite saddle. According to Prestige, the Nona is the closest thing to the Equipe now.

Okay! Thanks! I emailed the lady but she hasn’t responded yet!

I love them!!!

A BdH might suit, depending on fit.

I used to ride a LOT in Prestige saddles (former trainer was a rep). My current trainer has a Butet but I cannot stand the knee rolls- they make this squishy sound every time you post!

Anyway, I ended up with a Prestige Hunter D- The Nona didn’t fit my long femur well but I love the Hunter D. It doesn’t have the thigh blocks either, which I liked.

Good luck with your search! I found mine on ebay!

I found a Nona Garson Prestige with a minor flap issue (not visible when I’m in the saddle) for $750 and haven’t regretted the decision once. Responding to the ‘long femur’ post, this saddle fits me like a glove and I’m 5’4’’. Saddle size 17". I’d love to gush/tell you about it if you’d like more info!

Check your PMs.

i have a nona that does not fit new clients horse. 17.-17.5 med tree. about 10 yrs.old great condition. love these saddles.

LOVE the Nona’s when I was younger my trainer had one and I used to make deals with him that I’d clean it if he’d let me ride in it haha. As others have said if you can find one for 1000 or less grab it most of the ones i’ve seen are selling used for about 1500 to 2000

I don’t have a Nona but I do have a Prestige and I FLIPPING ADORE IT. Has held up wonderfully and the leather is absolutely amazing.

I would buy a Nona under 1k in a heartbeat.

I have a Prestige Meredith with an XL XF flap (I have a longer femur than most men) and while many poo poo the lack of wool flocking (which is my first choice as well) I have found it to be incredibly adjustable to fitting a wide variety of sizes and breeds. I’ve had VTO adjust the tree twice, which is a nice feature, and they are very reasonable in $ and do a nice job.

So while I sold my (favorite of all-time) gorgeous wool-flocked custom dressage saddle when I sold my last TB, I have been able to hang on to my jumping saddle because it is more versatile for different horses.

I have the calf and it has held up very well, btw.

I am not a fan of the one I rode in. I feel like it tips m forward and doesn’t allow me to have very good contact with the horse. I could have to do with the fact that the flap isn’t the right configuration, but I wouldn’t try one based on my experience.

My friend has one, it’s very comfy. Although the calfskin over the flap is completely worn off and unfixable unless she re-covers the flaps entirely. However, if you can find one under 1k, pick it up!

I find it very nice to ride in.

I have one but [@70+] I have aged out of fox hunting,
saved by butt many times,
knee rolls and calf blocks kept me glued on.
wonderful at keeping the horse between you and the dirt
used mkt seems 1 to 2k depending on age/condition

I heard sort of recently Mr. Butet was now working with Prestige. I wasn’t a huge fan of their older saddles (mostly because I hate a deep seat), but I sat in some really new stuff recently and it’s pretty dang nice.

Under $1000 is a harder budget but definitely doable. The Nona is a popular saddle and if you found one, I’d grab it. I’ve also found a few “hunter” Albions to be quite nice and generally around that price if you have a horse that’s shaped for that more curved tree.

And also my old favorites: the older (not new. The new ones are terrible) Spooners.
