Norfolk Hunt - MA - Field hunter show ?

can some one please post details re the Norfolk Field Hunter Show on 5/25 ?
nothing on their website and e-mails not answered…

I’m wondering too…

I emailed in mid April about the field hunter show and the reply was that the prize list wasn’t ready yet but would be posted on the site fairly soon. I just checked yesterday and I didnt’ see it. I know last year I didn’t receive my prize list in the mail until the week before so I ended up making other plans.

I would love to get more details and a prizelist/entry as well:)

A New Member of the Norfolk Hunt and an eventer at that! I am unfamiliar with the ins and outs of the Field Hunter show but will ask that they post the class list and more info. ASAP!

Actually, I have the Prize List

If you are talking about the Norfolk Hunt Horse Show on May 23&24 the prize list is out. I have it sitting on my desk. If you can email me with your addresses I will ask that they send you one. I have emailed the organizer to ask that they post the information on the site ASAP.

The Norfolk Hunt Horse show is actually a USEF rated H/J show the day before the Norfolk Field hunter show. They unfortunately are not the same event :frowning: We are looking for the elusive Field Hunter show prize list.

thank you for the help though

It Is There

Okay, so I didn’t look first - silly me. The information is all up on the website
http://www.norfolkhunt.com/ under events and then Norfolk Hunt Horse Show 2009, entry, class description, program and class list.
Hope to see you there!

unfortunately it is not the same event. The information you linked to on the site is the Norfolk Hunt HORSE show held on 5/23-24. It is not the same event as the Norfolk FIELD Hunter show held on
5/25.

If you look on the event calender link you will see they are two separate events.

I realize it is confusing…

Okay, see, this is why I event… Seriously, though, let me email the organizer of the out and proud event and see who you need to contact about the oh so secretive affair!

It will definitely be on Memorial Day. Will probably be the same divisions as last year. I was hoping to enter the Green division but it looks like studying for the Bar exam is in the way :frowning:

If no one gets an email reply, I’ll try to get more info when I go to Boggastow on Friday.

Anyone planning on hunting with Norfolk at Westport this weekend?

It’s Coming

I should have a copy of the class list emailed to me later today or tomorrow
and I will post it - or the best I can.
Not hunting in Westport this weekend - meetings in NYC and Western Mass until Saturday mid-day. Hoping to get my guy out soon but want to preserve him for GMHA in June and am afraid of his getting hurt. We just made an offer on a large pony, though, who might be a mount for me to hilltop! We’ll see.

Here it is…Hope to see some of you there!

Hey Linquest!
I was thinking about taking the palomino out to Westport. (Yes, I know it’s tomorrow!) Are you going to go? It would mean trailering myself and I don’t know if I’m up for it yet!

I really wanted to do the field hunter show, but my barn is having a x-country clinic with Stephie that day, so I’m going to do that instead. I watched the hunter show last year and it was great fun!

Have fun everyone!

So it looks like, with some creative schedule juggling, I may be able to enter the show after all! This would be my first real horse show, so I hope I won’t make a fool of myself…

HHHaffie - yes, I’m hunting tomorrow. Come and bring the Blonde to the beach!

I’ve heard great things about the Westport hunt from a friend that hunts with Myopia but usually caps w/Norfolk for the Westport hunt.

so I know there are stunning water views but do they actually hunt on the beach too?? That would just be amazing.
Sighhhh…I have mother’s day stuff to do tommorrow otherwise I would be there in a heartbeat. I am definitely putting that fixture on my calender for the fall though!

I’ll be at the Field hunter show on the 25th along with my friend and her pony.

The blond and I are going tomorrow!! I’ve psyched myself up for it!

This fixture is wonderful!! It’s a very fast fixture as I remember from the fall. Lovely fields to gallop in and very inviting stone walls. Norfolk puts on a great hunt.

I probably won’t sleep tonight! Dukie had Lyme’s this spring (had a tough time with the Doxy) so this is our first hunt since the fall! He is going to be so psyched when he hears those hounds!

Norfolk Hunt Stables

Does anyone have contact info for the Norfolk Hunt Stables? Does it still exist? Can you still board there? What are the other good boarding places around there? Is Dan Boylan still around? Thanks in advance!

The official flyer is up on their website-
http://www.norfolkhunt.com/FHS/2009FHS.pdf

Note: you will ride in a group for the “Under Saddle” class, and go out individually in the other classes.

imissvixen- yes, the Norfolk Hunt Stables still exists. It’s by the kennels. They sent out an email a couple months ago that they had stalls open, but I deleted it, so I don’t have the contact info of the barn manager :frowning: E-mail the Master through the website, and I’m sure she’ll be able to put you in touch.

Other places around–there are tons but this area is extremely expensive. What specifically are you looking for?

Would that still be Lynn Browne?

As far as boarding, I don’t need an indoor. I always liked the Hunt Stables and the ability to hack out of there. How expensive is expensive? I am a former Norfolk member thinking about spending several months in MA every year.

No, it’s Carol Mansfield now (Jt.). Board right in Norfolk Hunt territory is usually $850-$1K+. If you don’t need an indoor though, you can find backyard barns for less. I’m sure the Hunt Stables is also less since it doesn’t have an indoor either, and the barn and ring are rather small. It does have great ride-out though!
