Normally sane FB group going cookoo?

So I follow Dressage Hub on FB. They normally post great competition videos and some useful training stuff. Nothing earth shattering but a solid collection and decent discussion area.

Today, though, they decided to jump the shark & post a set of extremely cherry picked photos from local pro rider’s youtube sales video, accusing her of a competing with a blue tongue. Note, this is the moderator/organizer posting it, not just a community member with a grudge.

Linking to the whole video (which literally has 1 second of resistance in a 7 minute ride) and pointing out the tongue’s not blue, it’s pink got me banned. Numerous other poster’s comments also disappeared and other friends who spoke up are also now banned.

I’ve been a member of that group for a long time and I never would have expected it to go off the rails like that … linking to sales ads, naming names and cherry picking ugly spots from a video to drag someone through the mud. I know online groups can get viciously but this was a solid community before this.

So do all online dressage groups go crazy eventually? Is it the hats cutting off circulation? Too tight of breeches? Hysteria brought on by the inhalation of horse dander? I mean, seriously, what’s up with this?

Let's talk. Susan Jaccoma posted this sales ad this weekend and I have a few questions that I think should be discussed.
  1. Why is she posting a sales ad using a pic with a blue tongue?
  2. Why is this horse scoring a 68% with a blue tongue?
  3. Why would you tag your sponsors in a pic with a blue tongue?
  4. Why is she trying pass off marshmallow as foam? (look closely)

“TANGO” for sale update!
Bob Stark’s Fantango and I had a wonderful Prix St Georges ride at the White Fences show! Tango marched into the ring, had a mistake free test and earned a 68.553%! It felt so easy and fun to ride! Thank you to Bob Stark for allowing me to train and show such a talented horse, Frank Tobias and Custom Saddlery for keeping both horse and rider happy in work and Carmen Franco for capturing such a nice picture of us! Video to follow!

If you look at the comments, all the “proof” pictures are from this video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cHyYl-iFbr4&t=315s

The big flopping tongue photo come from 3:05 - 3:08 as the horse is coming through the corner. The above the vertical happens right around 6:10 . I don’t know about the rest of you but I’m not seeing either a harsh ride nor a blue tongue and the moderator’s reaction to delete & ban makes it all just feel like a grudge match of some sort. Oh well, yet another community to remove from my feed. I try my best not to give attention to the crazy in our sport.

IroniesAreUs.

(I do think the post is mean spirited from what is shown, and don’t get it. However, I wouldn’t have even know she was being accused of something and will keep it in mind for the future in case there’s more behind the scenes knowledge… thanks to you making this post.)

is the owner of dressage hub “Ankywannabe”? didn’t she steal a facebook identity? I want to say it was also Shannon, but its been awhile. that was a mess.

Yes, I am aware of the irony of saying I avoid drama while documenting the drama on another board. I keep an irony jacket around for just these occasions.

But seriously, I hadn’t seen this sort of behavior from this group before and was really caught off guard by it. My gut response was a solid “oh, ffs, not this one too!”. Do all online communities go down hill in a wave of spite and pettiness or is it just the riding ones? My husband’s hobbies never seem to blow up like this.

A friend who knows the rider thinks this all a continuation of a previous business falling out. It looks like the admin for Dressage Hub might very well be Susan Wachowich, the same woman who held Sue Jaccoma’s business FB page, youtube channel and gmail account for ransom back in 2013. They’re certainly using the same user icon between the Dressage Hub facebook community and the SusanJaccomaDressage channel and Dressage Hub’s actual website tags Wachowich for articles written by the admin.

Yes, that’s it! Thanks

I stopped following Dressage Hub after the owner started making nasty, vindictive and bizarre posts about a bunch of Canadian riders this winter in Wellington. From what others told me at that time there seems to be a pattern with her using the site to air out her personal grievances. The stuff this winter made DressageHub lose all professional credibility in my eyes, even though she deleted most of it. Lots of people affected had already screen captured it for posterity. There was a ton more outrageous stuff on her personal Facebook page too but I imagine she deleted it.

Yes it’s Ankywannabe. And that’s all she is, a wannabe.

Gotcha. She’s the one who allegedly had her identity, website, email etc.hijacked, correct? And the rider in this video? What a coincidence…

I had a FB confrontation with Susan Wachowich just a few days ago when she tried to smear the 2 riders whose horses tested for Ractopamine. She likes to spread nasty and cruel innuendos and misrepresentations. As one of the sponsors of one of the riders, I can tell you I came down on her like a ton of bricks, and Kasey Perry jumped in as well to defend and stand by the riders…as most of the dressage community is doing.

I will say in my brief but disdainful exchange with Wachowich that she has an agenda: to tear down, discredit, humiliate any rider she doesn’t like or that she envies.

Per one of the parties involved, please report the post to Facebook. Perhaps the more complaints they get, the more likely they are to remove the offending post. I don’t know if Facebook keeps track of overall complaints, but perhaps it will eventually help stop this woman from doing it again, because she has done it before. She is even banned from Global.

I have to say I was also disappointed in this recent post. I follow Dressage Hub because of the many videos of good riders and clinics. I even enjoy the videos posted that ask you to consider whether the rider handled an ugly moment well or not, but without leading one way or another. The comments are usually educational.

While I obviously have a problem with a blue tongue and all of the other horrors that are sadly present, however rarely, in our sport, I am not comfortable with dragging someone through the mud without evidence. The photos posted are not clear one way or another. The video evidence she supposedly posted was a handful of slow motion moments. Again, not enough to say one way or another. Yes the horse was against the contact, but that can look particularly bad in slow motion when it could be something else entirely at full speed. The fact that DH failed to post the actual original video makes me assume it’s not nearly as bad as claimed.

I’m certainly torn. I missed the previous drama with DH, so I’m not totally familiar with it, just have seen it alluded to on COTH. Whoever the admin is has shared enough of her personal story to tell me that she’s got an axe to grind in a few barns in Florida, but again, most of the content has been free of drama so I’ve enjoyed that.

I have a question on the legality of the videos that dressage hub posts on their YouTube page.

There’s one video posted from the Carl Hester clinic. Did she film this herself? Did she have permission to film it? Did she have permission to post the video to YouTube regardless of whether she filmed it or not.

She also has videos that are clearly from FEI TV where she placed her Dressage Hub logo over the FEI TV logo. I’m almost certain this is copyright infringement.

I’m guessing a lot of these videos can be taken down due to copyright.
