That’s too bad. And while it doesn’t excuse it in any way, at least that may provide an explanation for what seems like completely irrational and inappropriate behaviour
I have seen her reference an incident where she was raped and almost murdered by someone. According to her, nobody believed her and when she was recovering her close friends stole a business from her. She also says she was kicked out of the showgrounds because one of her enemies was sleeping with the person in charge.
Oh I thought this was the head injury…

Perhaps new trauma is contributing to all this?
I discovered the “ride above hate” thing in the comments on some of her posts - though I can’t remember if it was directly on her DH page, or her (very public) personal page… there was quite the weekend of very public sharing of horrendous comments about the Canadian riders from her personal page, screen caps and all, so I’ll openly admit to going looking for what she had been saying or said in the past trying to figure out why she was so mad (home alone in a snowstorm, curiosity got the best of me).
At one point one of her supporters asked if the rider she was talking about in a particular comment thread was married, to which she replied something along the lines of “I think so but it doesn’t matter, horse women are cheaters anyways”
I admit I contributed to contributing to her click count when I looked at the FB page after the first postings on the other thread - and am super happy that I resisted the temptation to make a “Huh, what?!?!?? There’s no way Marlene Schneider is giving a blue tongue ride a 68%.” comment.
I’ve got enough else to do without having to worry about getting attacked online.
I don’t blame Susan for taking the whole video down, with the number of posters on the FB page drinking the kool-aid.
If you had posted that comment it would have been deleted anyway. Dressage Hub routinely invites people to comment / weigh in, but then deletes and / or blocks anyone who doesn’t support their agenda
Interesting! When I image Google SW the photos of the robbery victim and the blogger are quite similar. But this happened after the social media sites were active so wouldn’t it have been all over her FB feed at the time?
I Googled the name and there’s a big respectable W clan in Edmonton. In general there’s a big originally Polish population on the Canadian prairies, so it’s possible the robbery victim is a stay at home look alike cousin with the same name.
Head injuries are terrible things and depending on the person can cause lack of impulse control, rage, very poor decision making skills, and short term memory loss. IME observing several friends, head injuries take the person’s pre existing personal weakness and multiply massively. And the person also somehow loses self awareness of the change.
Absolutely I would believe this blogger is someone with previous horse skills who lost those plus good judgement to a concussion and is now kind of a nightmare.
She is the robbery victim and prior to that incident, sustained a head injury in a fall from a horse. As I previously mentioned, I am familiar with her inasmuch as a few seasons ago she had a press pass and would be in the tent at Global. Trust me, she may say she is “above the hate” but she is not. There were several instances where she was overheard slamming some of the USA’s best riders loudly. It was distracting, and she did not seem to realize she was embarrassing herself. There are most likely many reasons why she was banned from Global. I’m positive she’s spinning her own tale.
The erratic behavior and lack of self control are probably a direct result of head trauma, but it’s still distracting and frankly quite sad.
Yes, while her care providers need to be empathetic, the greater world needs to set limits. But also not take her seriously. I mean obviously if she’s highjacking your online identity or slandering you, act on that. But recognize that there is no point trying to reason or argue with her.
Agreed. The best way to deal with this kind of attention-seeking personality (unless you are being directly targeted by her) is to unfollow, unlike, and ignore.
I can assure you all that this person was [edit] way before any of her head injuries.
I used to know her way back - something like 15 years ago?
Dressage friends back in Edmonton used to call her Wackywitch. Waaaay before the alleged TBI incidents.
Inquiring minds want to know more!
She was just… odd. And God’s gift to the dressage world. Or so she seemed to believe…
Did she not try to do Young Riders back in Alberta?
If anyone is that interested in knowing her background (or her version of it) her former blog has archive back to 2011 https://susanwachowich.wordpress.com/
She has one YR event on the EC records.
Blog. I didn’t know there was such a thing as a dressage fan girl, but so there is. Blog reads like a relative newbie without a lot of riding knowledge. I would not follow it, unless I was expecting a train wreck.
So did she make her influence such as it is actually videoing rides, or has she mostly just stolen videos from other sources?
I’m assuming there is a trust fund or family allowance. Nothing she does would earn money to support this lifestyle. There’s nothing inherently wrong with a trust fund, wish we all had one :), but the existence of one would fill in the missing piece here, which is how this make-believe social media empire and international travel (on her Awesomeness lifestyle blog) happens.
Poor girls who are a bit craycray either have to grow out of it and learn to get along in the world at the level their talents allow, or else fall through the cracks and live under a highway overpass. Money and family support let you keep up.the facade longer.
Hopefully the outside world will start setting limits in a real way.
On her “Live Awesomeness” channel there’s a video of her showing off a new Lexus that was uploaded about 2 months ago. I’m assuming she’s unemployed now and unless she had some lucrative business venture from earlier in her life that she sold her shares of, I’m guessing its family money of some kind.
she videos rides (from the sidelines) with out asking permission and then posts them on youtube. Its nothing noteworthy and anyone of us could do it too. We are talking GP riders. She claims they are in a public venue, such as showgrounds, so she can do whatever she wants with the footage. I think its disrespectful and not good to do such things!
