North American Registries - Selle Francais NA? Other?

Recommendations for NA Warmblood Registries?

Nice TB mare in foal to Selle Francais stallion. Stallion is the french studbook. From what I understand, he’s recorded and approved with just about every warmblood registry. Mare is not approved with any registry, but I don’t see any issues in presenting her and having her be approved. She is riding sound as well, but very green. Foal is “for sale” (to save my marriage), but I believe it will be a jumper prospect and I’d love to go through the young jumper program.

I have been planning on registering the foal with Selle Francais NA. To stay true to the breed. Plus I have tons of M names picked out  But this registry does not seem nearly as active and supportive as some of the others.

But in talking to a friend, she recommended the Belgian Warmblood registry, because they are very supportive of young horse programs and a very active registry.

Any recommendations or suggestions? Anything I’m not thinking about? Thank you!

I honestly don’t think it makes much difference in a backyard one off breeding situation. You aren’t having a long standing relationship with the registry.

First find out what registries the stallion is approved for. That will narrow your choices.

Then you need to get the mare approved. So find a registry where the stallion is approved that will do that. There’s a process.

Then consider brand recognition and saleability for a jumper. And reputation of the registry.

And cost and effort to you.

You dont get to pick and choose the registry you want.

I do not know what the situation is now, but 15 years ago, if only one parent was registered SF, all they (SF) would give you was a certificate of pedigree, not registration.

NA KWPN… with a TB mare, and a licensed SF stallion, you could register your filly at nakwpn i think.

As here in the netherlands, a mare who is registrated in an accepted studbook, and sire is aproved or licensed/acepted with other registrys as SF, that they accept, you can registrate you filly as reg a in KWPN.

So maybe contact the www.kwpn-na.org KWPN NA
