Nosebands that might match my Edgewood bridle

I have a lovely old Edgewood bridle. I had to replace the noseband about 10 years ago, so it’s “new Edgewood,” and I was never really happy with the quality compared to the rest of it- I found it prone to cracking and it tended to bleed dye. I now need to replace it as the cracking is getting to the degree where it could be a safety problem. I know I don’t want a “new Edgewood” new noseband and suspect that anyone who has a 1" cob sized fancy stitched padded Edgewood noseband from 15 years ago is probably keeping it (though I’m looking…) Also: the horse is 25, we’re not going to Devon, so it’s not critical to me that the new piece be an exact match in color or stitching- but he should be properly dressed to show in the 2’ local pleasure division with my mother. Anyone have ideas of what other brands might piece in well? New or used. I know Aramas used to be a pretty darn good dupe.

ETA: it occurs to me that “new Edgewood” and “10 years old” might not actually reflect the current state of new Edgewood. So, if anyone has a purchased-within-last-two-years Edgewood bridle and you don’t think it’s frustratingly mediocre, please do tell me!

I sell a TON of Edgewood at my tack shop and yes there was a bit of a bad period about when you’re referring to. If you’re interested in a new 1" wide noseband, I have some on my web site www.thehuntinghorn.com We will also oil it for free before we send it. Quality has been great for a number of years.

Well… what color is your Edgewood now?

Maybe HDR? I picked up an “Edgewood Bridle” a few months back that was really just the Edgewood headstall with an HDR hunter noseband. It matches fine (the Edgewood headstall is quite dark), but the buckles are different. I don’t think the lady that consigned it caught it, but it didn’t matter anyway because it was $25 and I really only bought it because it was the only O/S bridle she had in stock.

I think I saw @fordtraktor was selling an Edgewood noseband a few days ago…?

How about equusport? I’m sure one of Brad’s would match and he makes really beautiful tack.

new cavalry would be the other one to check out! http://www.newcav.com/

I’ve purchased Edgewood’s in the past couple of years and they’ve been very nice. I had to purchase a new caveson (horse chewed it) and had no trouble oiling it to match.

Thanks! Yes, it sold though.

I got a new Edgewood noseband for an old Edgewood bridle. The new noseband is only about 2 years old. I love it- gorgeous quality. My horse is a dark bay but I have never noticed bleeding on his white face marking. I would get another one without a 2nd thought.

Thank you! If consensus is that new new Edgewood, as opposed to my decade-old concept of new Edgewood, is of good quality, then I’ll go get him a nice new Edgewood noseband and call it a day!
