“Note to Self” my (so far happy) experience buying (a yearling! 🤦🏻‍♀️) from Bowie Livestock

If I turn up at Bowie will you rescue me, too? Chubby barren mare. Sharp as a tack, good manners but opinionated. Hates straight loads, hauls better loose. No quit in her, but if you pick a fight with her she’ll finish it. Easy keeper, short back, cute face and blue eyes.

I’d buy her anything she wants! Especially if all she wants is just a pony! Typical girl child …

I just love the joy in Nosey, the zest for life. She just seems so darn happy!

I love the names paired together.

Nosey and Rowdy. What could go wrong?

They definitely sound like the horses on a cowboy show. Lol.

This thread is so dangerous because it makes me want a baby so bad. I just love Nosey!!

Nosey & Rowdy, running past a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G!

I’m a little more worried you’ll find them both up the tree because they thought it would be fun.

Well, another little mystery. This week Nosey lost both of her top incisors, which in my experience doesn’t happen until about the age of 2 1/2. So is she actually a two-year-old and will be three sometime next summer? Scratching my head.

Huh. She is quite an enigma.

Overachiever? :tooth::horse:

Bribe Rowdy to tell you what they got up to.

We have seen that happening between July and September, but since she had a few weeks of stress some months ago, before you bought her, that may have slowed down her growth for long enough to slow that process into December.

I would say that is more apt to be right than her getting so many more months ahead as if she was an early shedded of those middle incisors.

Keep track of how this proceeds, if she loses next two early-mid summer next year. Will be interesting to see.

Such a lovely filly. :star_struck:

it is a puzzle. If “Note to Self” was a registered name, I assume that comes with a paper. But one bay filly looks like another, so ???

Probably the best that can be done is track all the tooth changes in the next year and make an average guess. With that amount of stress and hunger, it anyones guess

Man her before and after, sheesh

“Note to Self” is the name I’ve given her; Nosey’s real identity remains unknown.

Maybe Nosey heard some old traditional Christmas songs and felt inspired by one in particular?

Good one! Lol.

I hope Nosey finds carrots in her Christmas stocking, not coal. :christmas_tree:

Seems like a reasonable leap, since she was sold as a 3yo… Easy enough to mis-remember a year off if you’re offloading a pasture full to a trader. Still plenty of time for growing up and out!

So, would that have effected the Jockey Club DNA searches? Maybe resubmit/retest with a new foaling year?
Guess you & pony jock will be backing babies at the same time!

Hmmmmmmmmm, interesting thought.
