So glad to see a Nosey update! I’d ask your vet. Doesn’t she specialize in equine dentistry?
Yep! She’ll be out next month for routine stuff so I’ll have her take a look.
Time for a Nosey update?
Nosey is doing wonderfully and quite enjoying her semi feral life! She lives out almost 100% of the time, she has a fluffy white pony as a chew toy, and good grass hay round the clock. I love the hip she’s developing and I hope she keeps her short coupled long legged frame. Can’t wait to get her lightly started under saddle, probably next fall.
Nosey living the life! That is a well-cared-for horse!
She’s lovely!
As if the movement wasn’t enough, that neck screams HUNTER all day. Love Nosey!
It’s still amazing to think that’s the same horse!
Yes! The neck, the withers and that shoulder.
As my sister’s British in-laws would say, “Nosey’s butt landed in butter.” What a fabulous life she has!
Before reading the post, I was looking at the angles on that back end with awe, then smiled agreeing at your same comment.
That !
She is just fantastic. Thank you for sharing her journey with us.
This is my favourite thread of 2024 (and probably 2025!). Thank you for saving her, and sharing her with us!!
When is the vet/dentist coming to provide input on her actual age given her recent tooth loss? I might have to mark the date on my calendar. Lol.
Mid January! We haven’t scheduled a date yet because I don’t have anything emergent.
That is such a horse person thing to say.
“An emergency is coming. We don’t know when or why or which horse. But anyway, let’s do Nosey’s other thing then, since you’ll aready be out.”
LOLOLOLOLOL
I need my vet to check out something on my gelding who is on stall rest (w/ hand walking), before we can start turning him out. It’s not massively urgent but she asked if I was ok if vet came out just for me. Generally the vet is there at least 2x per month but nothing is scheduled at the moment. So I said yes I’m fine with paying the full farm call fee this time.
“Whenever you’re on my side of town, which I hope isn’t because I called you at 6 in the morning with a capital-P problem, can you please come look at my horse?”
Me to my vet, every time…
My vet and I have a wonderful relationship where we both agree that seeing each other more than twice a year is excessive and clingy, unless absolutely necessary
She also knows that if I call or text and say “I need you today, please make it happen” then it’s something serious and complicated, so we both hate those.
My horse loves the vet. He seems to be working hard to have the vet out as often as he can make it happen.
