Novice needs advices on naughty horse (We have a baby!)

I want to be like her when I grow up!

No wonder Peter is awesome. Please tell her she now has fans cheering her on! You are probably going to have to make sure she doesn’t sneak out of her bedroom window at night to go riding in the moonlight…:lol:

Great Pic of MIL … 80 WOW that is so neat. She has a huge smile on her face, she must have loved the ride!!! Did she ride in the past?

Happy you made it through winter! I know here it is tough, could not imagine -23 and keeping the horses ok along with your own sanity!

Good to here all is well!

Keep us updated on the Buzzard, beautiful bird!

ohmigosh, so true!

I am so inspired by the picture of your MIL’s birthday ride. I too hope to be still riding then, if I am so blessed as to reach that age.

Spring is here and new things must be done

Sapphire, our 2 y o yesterday was introduced to the bit (a rubber one only) for the first time. As we hoped she was not concerned about it at all. No head shaking or anything else, just needed work out how to carry on eating these nice cookies

As all went so nicely, we are planning to start “walking in” any day now - she seems ready for new games with humans.

Sonora, our yearling, in turn, had been introduced to crossties - no problem.
http://i965.photobucket.com/albums/ae135/lillydelully/01-05-10IW/PICT1605.jpg

Sonora already walks on lead very nicely - she does not need pressure of the lead - she just watches human’s legs - when they stop, Sonora stops. So even voice is not needed.

These two babies are very sweet, absolutely human orientated and will become for their hobby riders the best friends.

In 2 weeks we do hope to see this year’s foal - about May 15th, but I suspect that she will take a bit more with the baby and also I have a feeling that there will be a boy.

Giva is expecting at the end of the May, first days of June.

Today was the big day - Peter went to his first show  And I’m so proud of him - heights were small, but on the first course he was placed 7th, and on the second round - he was 4th!!!
He didn’t made any really silly mistakes or messed up which is great thing for the first time. Gamma, his horse, is already ready for a bit more serious heights, but Peter decided that it would be better to start with something small, not so impressive, but do it right. And they did - no penalty points, no rushing and crashing - nice, quite slow, but clear and neat. Hurrah!

Anna, that’s great news about Peter and his show. Huge congratulations!!

PICTURES !!

OK, of course, I have a lot of pictures  But as my hands were shaky, no good ones at all.

This is son of my mare Inka who is expecting any day now

And this is son of my stallion Daggy - the best thing about him is that he produces sweet horses who are easy to ride and are taking little children like this girl over 3-4 ft poles at the event one after another - no refusals, ignoring small rider’s mistakes - all of Daggy’s babies are like that. That’s why I love him so much.

Lovely!

Looks great - thanks.

Woohoo! Thanks for the photos!

Thanks for the pictures - Peter looks very nicely turned out!

Also enjoyed the hunk in the sunglasses and grayish hair in the warm up area!

OK, will tell him… He has some English… Are you interested?

Probably too old for him, but he was still fun to look at!

No kidding!

Peter looks amazing! Errrmmm…I think he’s ready for more “challenging” courses!

I am trying so hard to catch up on this thread. It has to be the most intriguing, heartwarming thread ever on this board! I am only on page 35 and can’t skip ahead because then I won’t know who all of the characters are!

It just cracks me up how two people who had never had a horse end up with this herd! And I love how Peter has taken up riding. I’m as far as his videos of his earliest jumping lessons and I’m quite jealous of how well he’s picked things up.

I did skip ahead a bit with the photos and noticed he’d started doing some showing. Anyway, I have to tear myself away now and head home but will try to catch up.

Anna, you need to update your blog! No posts since Sept of '09!

About more challenging heights - coming weekend we are going to the next show, and he will jump 3 ft fences, and if he will be good, he will be also allowed to go to the next height.
I presume he must go a bit more before he will reach full 4 ft course level but we shall wait and see

On his first show the first two heights he did well, clear and without big mistakes, a bit rhythm was lost between fences 3 and 4, so this week mare needs a bit more training on right turns but in general it is Peter himself - let’s see how it will go.
Still baby heights so far… safe

It is a sad thing about my blog. Time is the problem.

Well I am completely enthralled by all of your animal care stories so I will just continue to come here! You are so good hearted to never turn your back on a needy animal. I don’t think there is an animal out there that you can’t help or rehabilitate!

Here is the video of the first show
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zAcPmmslBIc

Yesterday’s show was a disaster - Gamma decided that she will not do anything - probably for her it looked like a brilliant party trick. So Peter did what he was able to do - pushed her over every fence - clear round, actually the 3rd best time but for his riding style… So no ribbons at all
Especially “impressive” is the some beginning!

Have a good laugh!

What a beautiful mare with great movement! I thought she did alright, and Peter rode her through it. That natural “sidepass” at the beginning was funny, although from that I’m thinking you might try some dressage lesssons on her.
