Novice needs advices on naughty horse (We have a baby!)

Thanks for the update, Anna! I have followed this thread from the very beginning and am always excited to hear from you! The pictures you have from all of your adventures really make your story come to life, and they are all priceless.

I wholeheartedly agree with this:

You, Peter, and your herd are examples of what the horse/human relationship is, or should be, all about. Thank you for sharing your journey. I hope this thread will continue to thrive as long as CoTH is around.
Hi Anna
So pleased to get your pm today and to see you back on the board. I missed you and I hope all your health and family problems are solved and that you can come back and talk horses with us.

Give a pat to all the horses!!

Today Guddy got 3rd place at 100 cm in open class (39 horses participated!). Am I happy?

I’m in love with Guddy! Congratulations for all your hard work paying off!!

Today Guddy moved up to 110 cm and again clear round and the third place  He is more and more stable each time.

What a beautiful boy!

Congrats!

Hey, where are our foal pics? There must be some new faces around the barn?

Good to hear from you…

This is the chat

New foals at best will arive next month. We are expecting 2 this year. Last year’s babies are doing great, learning and growing like weeds

Another one of Guddy

So far he is by some unknown reason keeping the 3rd position at a very wide range of shows - from small local events up to Baltic Cup. He started season at 80 cm, now has moved up to 110 cm and is going more stable each time.

And tomorrow Lilly is going to her first Dressage show. I do not expect anything as it will be her first show, it’s National Cup, so a big show thus even for the beginners competition will be tight. For me more important is to see how she will act there, will she take the busy atmosphere and so on.

And now the best news - Lilly today went to her first show and…

WON at her group!

She scored 58,74 points (whatever it means) and was happy and relaxed at the show. It was late evening and raining, so no pictures at all, but she made it. Now I do feel like I had won. Guddy was not a rideable horse and so was Lilly. Everybody who know them were saying so - from vets to trainers. They both were hopeless. Dogmeat. And now I had proved that things not always are as they do look. That with a lot of luck and love it is possible to turn the clock back and complete “mission impossile”.

They both were the hardest, really hopeless horses, and now… well, I was fighting hard for them both, and now I feel that I had won the world.

It was not an easy ride for me from nothing to today. Without your help I would never won the battle. Thank you all for your help and support. You all helped to get where they both are - back in the showring, happy and proud. Thank you all! I feel really honored that you let me be here and shared your experience and knowledge with me.
THANK YOU!

Echo!

Funny you should post. I was just thinking about you recently. So fun to see the updates!

Yea!!!

WOW!

What a difference you have made!

If one goes back to see the just arrived photos to contrast to this video, the progress is breath-taking.
Lilly’s hind quarters are now up where they belong. The muscling is in the right places. She is showing the start of suspension in that last trot down centerline. She is going to have a beautiful lengthening and extension. The balance and rhythm are there. Nice tactful riding.
I love how Lilly didn’t get upset when she didn’t understand where to go in the canter. She looks happy to be out in the world, and serenely feeling competent in the work.
WELL DONE!!! Sugar cubes for you and Peter!:D:D

Anna, that is wonderful, thanks for sharing those pictures of Guddy and Lilly. I think you are not giving yourself enough credit for their transformations. You sought out advice, and applied it. In the process you became more expert than many of us, and definitely more expert than all the doomsayers who said those horses were hopeless, good job!

Wow. this is one of the longest running threads ever I bet!!

Anna, your horses are awesome!!! It’s amazing to read your story and how far you’ve come

Any updates? How is everyone doing?

There is still something strange going on in her loin/sacrum/stifle area. Can’t put a finger on it. But - I sure would have the vet investigate. She is muscled oddly in that area for a 6 year old with no work.
It’s a roach back. The reverse of lordosis/sway back sort of! Doesn’t bother the horse really but it does look odd. Not something you’d want to breed on though.
