Makes me realize all over again what a gem of a mare I had… bought at a CA auction (or so I understand) who never even made it to the track (no lip tat). She put up with a challenging rider (my physical issues) and never lost her willingness to try. Once I realized to question me before blaming the horse for everything, we made such progress, limited by me, not by her.

Her drive and willingness to live after 2 colic surgeries. She came back home and lived another 15-16 years before her stifle made it clear that another winter wasn’t in the cards. Her picture hangs in my office where I can see and thank her every day for everything she gave me :love-struck:
