Nunn Finer.. are their leather products any good?

I like the look of the contour girth they’re selling, but I’ve never seen it in person. How is the leather? Does the girth look/feel cheap?

Thanks!

I have a breast plate and side reins. They have both held yp well and look nice. Haven’t seen the girth.

Nunn Finer makes very nice tack. Perhaps not the fanciest stuff out there, but very well made and very nice leather. It’s a bit more popular in the eventing world, I think.

It always gave me the impression that, well cared for, it would still be hanging in your tack room being used in 30 years.

I have a girth, albeit a dressage girth, and the quality is fantastic. I was nervous before it arrived, but I was very pleasantly surprised. It has excellent stitching and it arrived super soft. I also have Nunn Finer side reins and I am very pleased with them, too!

I have a little bit of everything from Nunn Finer. LOVE it. Not super fancy, but amazing quality. Good stuff.

I too am using a Nunn Finer dressage girth right now, and I do like it. Good attention to detail.

I have a countoured double-ended elastic girth I bought from Bartville, which is the shop of the Amish who actually make their leathergoods. Granted, I’ve only had it about four months, but have been using it as an everyday girth. I’ve been very pleased with the quality and would definitely buy another one. (Though probably from Bartville, not Nunn Finer, since it’s about 30% less expensive ;))

I got the Galway event bridle for my jumper (with their clinched browband-snazzy!) and love it. It’s tough, extremely well made, and looks wonderful. Matches my saddle perfectly. I’d definitely recommend their stuff, especially if you want something hard-wearing that’ll stick around for awhile.

YUP that’s the girth I want except I’m planning on getting the one sided elastic one. I love that the elastic is brown instead of tan… I hate how hard the elastic can be to get clean again.

Thanks everyone! I think I’m going to get it.

Oooo I just saw the Hampton bridle too… now I REALLY want that too for my show bridle…!

I bought some leathers at the BOB tent sale a couple of years ago, and they are awesome! So soft but sturdy. Much nicer than my stubbens, for example. I also have some stuff from Bartville, and it is also very nice.

The Nunn Finer stuff is really nice (I am a distance/ endurance rider and it holds up to that!!!)
However, there’s no way I would pay Nunn Finer prices- all their stuff is available at Bartville Harness without the Nunn Finer tag for much less

I know but I guess I have to  Bartville doesn’t have a website and I live about 1,000 miles away right now  (I did live in North DE for a bit… but never even knew the place existed)!

Love 'em! I own a few Nunn Finer products, and would certainly by more.

I love everything Nunn Finer. Plain, sturdy, great quality.

They do have a catalog though (they’ll send it to you if you call the store)

That says it well. Nice enough leather. You won’t confuse it with a Jimmy’s, but it’s good quality for the price. I use the Nunn Finer “eventer” bridle for dressage. It’s nice enough and comperable leather to other $250ish bridles but a CLEAR step down from the Edgewood I use for hunter schooling. I also have a Nunn Finer Piroutette girth. It was about $100 and its very nice, very soft leather. Again, good for the price but not to be confused with more upscale brands.

Only the non-fancy stitched Nunn Finer bridles/reins are made by Bartville, the other stuff and the girths etc. are not.

I have owned Nunn Finer stirrup leathers for a little over a year. LOVE them. The leather was soft from the beginning, I received many compliments on them, and they are holding up very well. Plus, I paid less for them than many other leathers I considered.

You can see the girth in use here, for some idea of color. I, too, liked that the elastic was brown. It definitely looks less dirty than the white elastic ends up looking. The reins there are actually the Nunn Finer soft-grip rubber reins, too, which I LOVE and have on both my bridles.

NUNN FINER

Great company, great products…
