NUTRITION: Triple Crown vs Tribute

Curious for opinions on TC vs Tribute feeds. Specifically, TC Low Starch vs Tribute Kalm 'N EZ.

Tribute seems to rely heavily on soybean for protein, which is probably a plus and a con—I’m not sure. Also has beet pulp higher on the list of ingredients, which I think is definitely a plus.

I should explain that I use a beet pulp based feed (currently TC) in a small amount (~3 pounds/day) in combination with a larger ration of Dumor hay stretcher (dehydrated alfalfa + fiber sources) for my two fairly easy keepers. I like adding the low starch feed because I feel like it has less junk in it and is good bang for the buck. Am currently experimenting with a ration balancer (instead of Equimins loose minerals) to make sure I’m covering all the nutritional bases.

Handling of ionophores at the manufacturing plant is another consideration. Does everyone trust both companies equally? I saw there was a lawsuit against Tribute a few years back.

I’m open to any insights or suggestions on this.

Thanks!

I have no trust in Kalmbach, who manufactures Tribute. I had an experience where they out and out lied to me as a one of their dealers. If they lie to their dealers, who else and what else do they lie about?

What did they lie about?

Basic business practices that there was no need to lie about. As simple as what products they could sell us.

I know of other negative experiences others have had as well.

When I was showing I used TC Low Starch and loved it. My horses looked great. That was over 6 years ago, and Tribute was not readily available in my area so I didn’t really look at it.

Another option for you may be one of the new ProElite line that Southern States is rolling out?

Just found out my local feedstore is carrying it and am excited to pick some up this week to see what it’s like.
