NW Michigan Boarding Recommendations

Hi,

I’m researching relocating to NW Michigan. We are currently looking at Ludington and the Boyne City areas. We’re driving out in Mid-Sept to explore.

Any recommendations on low key boarding barns to tour? Indoor is a must, access to trails ideal. Within a 20 minute drive from those locations preferred.

I have a hunter background, just playing with my OTTB, not interested in showing.

I’d appreciate any recommendations- contact info would be a bonus!

TIA!

A few years ago I looked for boarding options in the Pentwater/Ludington area. I didn’t get very serious, just a casual look, but I didn’t really turn up anything much. I was kind of surprised because Mason County has a really active show season during the summer and I expected more boarding operations in the area.

There is a Mason County Saddle Club. They have a web site and Facebook page, you might reach out to them.

Great idea! Thanks so much. I’ll check that out.

Check out West Michigan Trail Riders on FB. There may be someone on there that can tell you.

Hey @mmurphy613, I responded on the MCSC FB page with some suggestions. Let me know if you want someone to come with you to check out a couple places. I was born and raised here and know a few people.

And OfCourse, are you still in the area?

No, I’m not. I made a big move a couple of years ago and was considering going back to Michigan but ended up doing the stereotypical “half-back” instead.

If I ever win the lottery, I’m going to have my main home in Pentwater and a vacation home down around Sarasota/Bradenton.
