NYC Senior Shelter Cat At Risk

Are any of you NYC (or NY) COTHers interested in adopting a senior kitty who needs a good home?

I read Groucho’s story on FB this weekend. It really touched me and I wish I could go get him. This is his story on FB:

I contacted the shelter and today received this reply:

Groucho is currently at-risk due to behavior and would need permanent placement through adoption or a rescue group. If you are interested in adopting him, please submit an application here: https://nycacc.app/#/browse/232157

I am hundreds of miles from New York and have just adopted a local senior kitty who needed a home.

Groucho’s eyes and story just spoke to me so I am posting it here in case any of you New Yorkers might like to go meet Groucho.

7 years is not old. I got my girl when she was 7. She was at the rescue because her previous owner passed away. She is now 10 and healthy and happy. I suspect she will be around for quite a while longer.

I felt sorry for her because she spent most of the month she was there holed up in the cave of a cat tree because she didn’t get along with her room mates (no cage shelter). It took her a while to adjust. I thought I had adopted the world’s clumsiest cat then I realized it was because she hadn’t gotten much exercise in the previous month. She is now a nimble middle aged cat.

I hope Groucho finds a good home.
