who is it? and where can I see the photos?
You can’t I posted a thread a few weeks ago about this… and unfortunately, the photographer Glen Burgess from ESI photography isn’t putting proofs online for fear they will be stolen. I’m all the way in the UK for another 2 weeks and dying to see photos of my girls competing!
yes me too!!! my horse will be there next week and an old horse of mine is there and did well in the derby today and i would really like to see some photos. is there any way of contacting them?
This is all the info on the HITS page:
ESI Photography
Official Photographer for HITS Ocala
Glen Burgess
1921 Captains Point
Sanford, NC 27332
978.319.3449
I emailed ESI Photography who said I’d have to get in contact with HITS, HITS emailed me and said I’d have to find Glen at the show at his booth and tell him what class, ring my horses were in and he’d try to take some pictures and send them to me through email.
Good luck!
There are no UNofficial photographers in Ocala? How is it that they have just one photographer when WEF has at least three as well as the official one? I would also very much like to see Ocala photos.
I’m not sure, this is just what ESI and HITS tells me. Maybe Mr. Burgess has other photographers working under him? I don’t know. I’ll tell you when I get there and investigate for myself in 2 weeks.
Last years photographer Lili was great about promptly putting up proofs from every day’s competition. It was such a bummer to find out that it wasn’t going to be the same system as last year.
Mcarvers I think I will be there next Thursday the 25th. If you tell me your horses name and classes I will be happy to try to take some photos for you. Just let me know so I can plan my day!!
That goes for you also Handitover!!! My photos may not be as good as the show photographer, but I will try!!!
Thank you so much Shojumper! I have two mares named Sakura Hill Ana Bella and Sakura Hill Ahme that will most likely be competing at Level 1 with rider John Brown.
Thank you so much for your kind offer!
ESI was at HITS Saugerties this summer and didn’t post photos there either but at least Lili Weik was there posting hers. ESI did hire other photographers to work for him at Saugerties (I know this only because I know one of the freelancers he hired) but they couldn’t post the photos they took.
really…in this day and age, i would think it would be suicide not to have oinline photo viewing…maybe its a case if damned if you do, damned if you don’t
So apparently this photographer is the same one that is doing Culpeper this week, correct?
If so, that is major bull to not put the pics up online. I want Lili back!

Let your horse show managers know which vendors you like to see at their shows. The vendor fees are prohibitively expensive at many of the shows, which prevents some good vendors from providing their goods and services. Who knows what the power of the people can do in this instance…Exhibitors are the HS’s customers.
Yes, it’s really unfortunate that they don’t put the photos online so you aren’t able to buy them unless you are physically at the show.
The other major drawback is that they don’t list them by the horse’s name, competitor’s name, or even number. They just put the classes up and you have to scroll through them all. It’s a very poor system and one that inevitably results in a LOT of lost revenue for them, and unhappy customers. Quite a shame as I did get some lovely photos, just glad I was there at the end of the circuit to sift through them all and select the ones I liked.
Take one quick look around facebook and you can see why photographers don’t want to put their proofs online…
Grand Prix photos at HITS
I’ve been wandering over on Sundays to watch the Grand Prix and doing some practice shooting. If anyone wants to look for their horse or friends, the link is http://masterworks.net/instaproofs.com
Tami Johnson, photographer
Ocala, FL
ahh, Tami, the link doesn’t work. But if you can wander over on Wednesday or Thursday :D??
3Dogs - I’ll be in hunterland most of this week with my camera. And at the GP ring a bit as well.
Here is a link to a few pics I took for fun at last Sunday’s GP - mostly friends or their horses.
HITS II 50K Grand Prix
Will send you a PM.
I am really underwhelmed by this particualr photographer. Not only is it really a pain that you can’t order online…prices are high…and lots of restrictions on how you can use photos. Two thumbs down is my vote!
