I am looking for recommendations for a trainer in Ocala who is really good at getting young horses exposed to eventing. I am planning on spending a couple of months this winter there with my horse who will be rising 5 years old. She was started under saddle this year and we are busy doing flatwork, cross rails, and hacking out. We should be ready to start getting her out to some schooling shows this winter. I know that there are many colt starters and BNTs in Ocala, but I guess that I am looking for someone who specializes somewhere in between those two spectrums. TIA.
Meg Kep!!
COTHer @eponacowgirl winters in Ocala and is excellent at bringing along youngsters. @EventerAJ is also great and based there, too; I think she takes occasional outside training horses.
Dean Graham!
Strongly recommend Mikey and Kena Nolan. Feel free to reach out for their contact
Thanks for the recommendation!
I am in Morriston. I have a small, private program and specialize in young horses. I breed my own too, start them myself and bring them along. I’m comfortable starting and galloping racehorses, so I value a forward thinking youngster and riding out of the arena. Even my racehorses hacked out, go over poles, haul out for trail rides. I want to build confidence and exposure to new things and places.
My horses live out on a forage based feed program with unlimited orchard/alfalfa hay. They come in to eat and ride, then back out. Keeps them happy, sound, and healthy! I’m expecting one or two openings for training board this winter. PM for more info.
