off the rack dressage boots

Ok so I need a new pair of tall boots and unfortunately customs are not in the budget right a the moment. So I’m trying to buy a pair of tall boots off the rack.

Dover has a some decent prices on the Parlanti dressage boots and Cavallo pair.

But I’m finding the sizes to be insanely confusing. I’m fairly tall and thin and I’m very fortunate that generally fitting boots isn’t a big issue for me.

In Ariat tall boots I wear a regular calf and medium height - so just about as average as you can get!

But in the Parlanti and Cavallo the size charts are suggesting a I need a xx-wide calf - and needing a x-short height.

I’m trying to chat with a sales rep from Dover but it isn’t super helpful.

I’m am I going crazy? Has anyone bought any of these off the rack boots with any success?

Thanks!!

I looked at the Cavallo size chart (it’s in cm) and I didn’t find it so confusing. I have a pair of Cavallo Insignis boots that I measured for, ordered, and received with no issues. I also have Mountain Horse Opus boots for everyday riding that fit well.

”‹”‹”‹”‹”‹”‹I’m not sure how you’d end up with such a different size…maybe post the size chart here and your measurements.

I bought a pair of Petries from Dover. No issues. I love the range of sizing.

if the parlantis are in italian (Euro) sizes, it wouldn’t surprise me that the “name” would be different. If you really want to feel bad about yourself, by a jacket from Europe. I can only assume the idea works the same for boots!

Did you measure? Or are you just taking the measurements from the Ariats and applying them to the other size charts? Do you have someone who could measure for you? I fit in a stock size Petrie (47cm height, 35cm calf) and I tried on Cavallos in the store and a stock size also fit me fine–no idea what size as I didn’t like them much. I fit a stock size in Kingsley as well.

In Petrie at least, they’ll add or take away a cm in height or width from a stock size for only $50 or $100 extra if you’re totally between sizes.

I am extremely hard to fit. Kingsley has a great range of sizes in height and width for a very reasonable price, with lots of possible customizations. I got a pair recently and I love, love, love them. Contact Sarah Hoog at CUatXtack.com. She’s great.

Parlantis run short and extremely slim through the calf. If you’re an Ariat Med/Reg, which is around 14.5" calf/ 18.5" tall for a size 8 shoe (more or less) you’re probably an X-Large/X-Tall in Parlanti. I don’t know your shoe size, so I could be off a little but I am positive you would not be an x-short height. (Worked at a tack shop for 4 years and sold a lot of Parantis and Ariats.)

I get Petries from Dressage Extensions (yes, I know Dover bought them too) and the customer service is great.

I also got one tall boots from Petries. A bit expensive but I always think that I’m gonna use it like I mean it so as to get what I paid for. It’s worth every penny. So I would recommend Petries.

I had good luck measuring myself and buying DeNiros from Smartpak (still pricey, like ~$1000, but probably 50% less than custom fit). The fit isn’t as perfect as if they’d been custom but they’re fine.

Cavallo offers semi-custom-made boots for a great price, here: https://www.cavallo-shop.de/konfigurator.html

I ordered a mocha xtall pair from them and was completely happy with them. They feel like custom boots. Just make sure to measure correctly. The price is amazing.
