Oh no. So sorry to hear about Jet Set.
Personally, I disagree. The horse landed on its head/neck after its legs buckled on the landing. I think a horse landing on its neck like that is always concerning, even if it is not as bad as a rotational fall from catching a leg on the fence. I hope the horse is okay.
I also found it interesting that Lucinda Green thought the design of the fence, with that little bit of dry land on the landing side caused the fall. No other horses seemed to have a problem there so perhaps it was more due to the relative inexperience of the rider. But I hope the course designer considers whether the placement of the fence did play a role.
They all started talking the other route at that water.
I thought that was common knowledge - to make it more inclusive.
Pity he can’t pronounce Jung’s name correctly.
What do you mean? He pronounces his name as the Germans do.
Did Jet Set and Robin have a refusal or fall or anything? I never saw anything, it sounds like from the article that he was super lame after a jump.
He pronounces it Young.
What do you think its pronounced like?
That’s literally how it’s supposed to be pronounced…
…that’s how he pronounced it…
I really appreciated Green’s commentary. I was watching with a friend who has never really done cross-country, my husband and another friend who doesn’t ride at all. I felt her commentary was very approachable for the non-rider or the non-eventor. She was a little soft spoken and hard to hear at times but I appreciated her talking about bitting choices, positions of the riders and why they’re ridng that way and she never had a terrible thing to say about a rider doing poorly. Heck there were a couple times where there were oh s*** moments on the course and she was very clearly rooting for the writers and horses to come home safely.
I think her comments about Mares are because she loves them. You can tell that through her commentary she isn’t equestrian who enjoys mares. It’s very clear she understands their challenges but loves how they give their heart to you.
I don’t see the point of watching largely unqualified riders making a hash of things and hurting horses. It would please me no-end for this particular discipline to be dropped from the Olympics, and a separate championship level competition established. All this Mickey Mouse stuff is pointless.
Wow.
100% agree. Stick to the WEG.
As a non-eventer, I agree. I appreciate the athleticism of event horses so I follow the sport and I think I have a relatively good understanding, but I found Lucinda’s commentary positive and educational and my husband, who has only seen H/J, understood what was going on and began to appreciate the dressage.
Maybe I have the wrong announcer . One of them pronounces it “young”.
