Oh no, I've fallen in love with my OTTB project (New mare update, post 64!)

Oh my… what a handsome boy! That face is adorable. Looks like he’s going to be an awesome partner for you if you keep him, or someone else if you manage to let go of him. I love his JC name too… did you keep that? What’s his barn name?

The new mare looks great too. I love some Medaglia d’Oro. He was just a brick house of a horse.

I have! It’s much better than some others I’ve had. His barn name is Speedy.

Well now I’m having a weird day! I was just sitting and having tea with my mother and she was talking about her father and how he met his best friend doing electrical work in a factory. They were paid by the hour, and apparently my grandfather would really stretch each job out, so his best friend started calling him Speedy.

Here’s the new mare after two weeks of good feed, a fresh shoe job, and a few good baths:

She is just as stunning to ride as she is to look at.

Keep posting the eye candy. One of us is going to buy both of these! That is if you don’t decide to keep them for yourself. This one looks super nice also. How’s the gelding doing?

The gelding heads to RRP on Sunday! We’ve been doing our homework with a dressage coach for the past two weeks (last lesson tomorrow), which has been immensely enlightening for us both. (Cue side note about how grateful I am to be in a Hunter/Jumper program that welcomes/encourages my bringing in outside professionals to improve my riding and my horses.) He just purrs like a kitten in a nathe at the end of my lessons with her! He has a few trials lined up in KY so I may very well come home with an empty trailer but I would be very proud if that winds up being the case, despite the tears.

Oooh she is nice. You have a good eye for horse flesh!

ETA: if anyone’s looking for their next ottb project… I’ve been eyeballing these:

I’ve had my eye on this one for awhile! Would love for a COTHer to snap him up.

I really like him, too! He has In Reality, one of my favorites.

What’s up with the enlarged near hind gaskin muscle or is it ust a weirdness of photography? It definitely looks larger that his off hind.

I’m so obsessed with her.

On the colt? I think it’s just the angle/his tail resting there unless you’re referring to something else.

I see it, too…

The second photo is a view from the offside for comparison. You can also see the outline of the near gaskin underneath.

This popped up on my Facebook feed: https://airtable.com/shr9a7QfsngbDIDbj/tbl5vBoEtv0UlSKXq?fbclid=IwAR0d1PX51F4VkUNT7Rw7YxD2I2GenfIlv40Po0f6gXpUhtIHcEg7X3tj_3o

If I was good enough rider to restart one straight from the track, 31, 14, 12 would be coming to live with me.
