I’m confused - I popped in earlier, and was watching the Celeste arena. Can a QH person answer this for me? LOL. I believe what I was watching was a jumper class - youth, but the horses were braided like hunters. Is that the norm? I’m curious. Or would the same horses be doing jumpers and hunters/eq and they just stay braided?
They’re probably doing both. And, since it’s congress, I would braid if I were showing Jumpers.
Breed shows have their own etiquette and tradition. And it is Congress, the biggest show in the world, bigger then Worlds. It’s their Indoors.

Interesting. This is why I asked. I know that Congress is a huge deal, but don’t know anything about AQHA show ring norms or traditions, which is why I asked. It sounds like braiding for jumpers is the norm. Thanks!
Congress is a huge deal, because of it’s sheer size, no qualifying, major horse sales (private and official auction sale), and major, major shopping show (think two supermarket sized buildings full of booths + trailers outdoors), The jumpers that were braided could easily have also been entered in the eq over fences or hunters, but probably the eq. Hunters are very competitive there. Braiders are very busy, so you would leave them braided, not take braids out just for jumpers.
It is actually more like 3 weeks of WEF than indoors. Indoors is orderly, Congress is a Zoo, in a good way.
Congress is a bucket list item of things to do before you die, even for non-QH people.
