Oi Vey! What A Weekend!!

We have had a dishwasher overflow and damage our hardwood, subfloor and some counters in the kitchen. So we are facing some major repairs, thank God for insurance! Will actually have to move to our mobile home which is usually rented while the sealant dries. They are going to do an industrial sealant because of the animal traffic. Sooooo, I’ve got to move furniture and alot of other stuff out and pack stuff to live in the trailer. Friday one of my favorite cats is gone! I’m just frantic – when he’s not back at night or Saturday AM, I’m convinced he’s a victim of the coyotes. Just sick inside. He is impossible to keep inside, he dashes in and out all day. So Sat AM I go down to the barn early to feed so I can take puppies to Schutzhund class. Didn’t turn on the lights, in a hurry, went into an empty storage stall to turn on a water faucet in there and there is a swarm of flies or something. I’m thinking dead animal – so move the wheelbarrow and start getting stung. I probably looked like a frog in the blender. Got in the truck and was still getting stung - in my clothing and then I saw it was yellowjackets! I was stung everywhere and it hurts! So I go up to the house, take some Benadryl, Ibuprofen, get every kind of anti-itch and hydrocodone cream I can find to take with me and the pups to class. Drive about 35 miles – no one is there – apparently I missed the message. Of course one of the puppies throws up in the back seat. I was in the truck since my SUV had a screw in a tire that I hadn’t had fixed yet, so they were inside the truck. Get home and my husband tells me Barrett is up a tree about 100 yards from the house – but waaaaay up there – about 60 feet or so. We try two ladders, cat food, calling, begging. No luck. Two other kitties come and sit at the base of the tree. Then it rains off and on. The next AM I start calling people who do tree work and FINALLY find one who will come get him out by climbing up with those spiked boots. I give him a pillow case and he goes up and snags Barrett and once he is inside, he is soooo happy to be there. I’m just relieved to the max and thanking God for my kitty being safe! I pay them $100 - which is money well spent to me. Still treating swollen, hot, painful and intchy stings on my back, legs, ankle, arms and temple, but it’s better. I think I have more grey hairs and left a few years of my life out there – but I’ve sprayed where those yellow jackets were nesting and will do so again. Nasty, aggressive, horrid creatures! I think they stung my red mare, too. Anyway, gotta get this house packed up – and so it goes!
