Old Bay Seasoning

We had a party yesterday picking crabs and I discovered by accident that one of my horses LOVES Old Bay Seasoning. As he is a picky eater, it occurred to me that might be a good way to hide medications in his feed if needed. Anybody tried it?

It’s probably mostly salt, and I bet that’s what he likes about it.

some like it hot…it’s got a fair amount of chayenne in it as well…
If capsiacin is a problem you might reconsider (check the label)

celery salt and several types of pepper, including paprika. The peppers would not be legal for shows. I bet it is the celery salt he liked.

I mixed up some chilipepper flakes with vegetable oil to keep the horses from chewing the run out paddock rails. Worked fine for my mare. But with my neighbour’s gelding, if anything it seemed to encourage him to chew more. Oh great they put hot sauce on the fence! If he was a guy he’d be yucking it up in the bar ordering jalapeño poppers.

The capsaicin, (a banned substance ?) in the pepper might cause a positive drug test, celery salt and garlic should be ok.

you mean Habanero poppers…

I recently found out that my pony will eat any medication (3 out of 3) if it was dissolved in a small amount (a tablespoon?) of store brand black cherry soda. It took a week to make it through the whole can with 2x/day feedings.
