I just wanted to say that I attended the May 10 ride on a hired horse and had a wonderful time. We were able to ride through woods and open country, completed a couple of river crossings (one easy, the other a little less so, but still OK). Horses got to see cows, a vulture and a turkey in the woods, heard hounds in the distance from the kennel and a couple of dogs in a field, so a good opportunity for a green horse to see and hear things while surrounded by the safety of friends. As I was on a made hunt horse I got to just look around and enjoy.
No hunting experience is necessary to enjoy the ride, and it’s a good opportunity to try out the experience in a low stress environment. Wish I had a similar program closer to home!

Had a ball!!!

Hinderella came a LONG way to join the ride! I rode with her for awhile and it was just perfect out there. She’s an elegant rider AND person I might add!! Gorgeous territory and my horse was a good girl and made it all so much more enjoyable!
This weekends ride is very near where I live and will be more open with the best views ever. Bring yer cameras! and some food!! I’m bringin’ hot dogs! HuntersRest is a great ride leader!
I guarantee a good time!

I think this is a wonderful idea! My DH would probably do that, since there is a non-riding option. Sadly we can’t get away from the farm in May this year, but I hope you continue this so we can come another time.

Ride tomorrow is cancelled due to high water! Lotta roads closed in this county this morning. Would be “mudville” too. So catch us next saturday!

BUT WAIT!! There’s an ALTERnaTIVE!!
I’ll be taking a ride from my place at 9 am tomorrow (up the road) if anyone has green horses/green riders that needed a quiet ‘group school.’
Bring-a-dish for snacks/drinks on the porch afterwards.
No charge.
I may end up with a spare horse or 2 if anyone’s horse-less.
Parking on the circle driveway around my barn.
Call or email if you want to come so I can direct parking.
