"Old Fashioned" Hunter Trials - Cincinnati Oct 3

Camargo Hunt will be hosting our 69th annual Hunter Trials on Sat Oct 3. The event features a pace and chase on the surrounding trails of Indian Hill along with classes on both the outdoor permanent course and the small show ring. Divisions on the outdoor course include Green, Junior, Childrens, Adult Am, Open and of course, the Qualified Division. The Qualified Division includes the Field class with hounds, a handy class and the Corinthian class with appointments.

This year we are proud to introduce several new jumps on the outdoor course as well as a greatly expanded vendor area.

Full details are at http://www.camargohuntertrials.com/ including a photo gallery. CLick on Register Now to see the class detail, schedule etc.

We hope to see you there!

How formal?

I noticed that the prize list indicates that the Qualified classes require formal attire.
Should we plan on formal attire for the Open hilltopper pace (and the non-qualified hunter trial classes)?

LWK:

We look forward to seeing you.

For the open hilltopper pace the only attire rule is helmets. Wear what you like.

For the non-qualified show classes please wear normal show attire (jackets, chokers or ties etc), not schooling show attire like polo shirts.

Thanks!

Thank you! We are looking forward to it.

Is the appointments class what makes it ‘old fashioned’? What did hunter paces USED to be like?

Reminds me of being in a Wendy’s hamburger place (remember the sign says “old fashioned” hamburgers) and a customer asked, “what makes them ‘old fashioned’?” Counterteen hadn’t a clue…

My understanding is that it is Hunter Trial classes using the permanent outside course that make it “old fashioned”.

How did they go? I know someone from Fort Leavenworth that drove over to be in the “family” class with his son. He overnighted at our hunt box along the way.

It was wonderful - “footing” for trucks and trailers was a little soft, but that’s part of the adventure (Fords proved better than Chevys for those of us observing). Very well run, lovely fixture and great sport. The Camargo Crew were most gracious, the courses were wonderful and a good time was had by all.
Thanks, Mudroom!

It was definitely an adventure, but we had a great time! (Our Dodge was up to the challenge).
