Older Collegiate Dressage Saddles

So I saw an older Collegiate Baron Dressage saddle for sale, $250 and couldn’t resist. If it doesn’t work it will be added to my tack collection

I have no horse right now so wanted something of decent quality that I can throw on different horses.

Curious, does anyone know anything about the older (when they were made in Argentina) Collegiate Dressage saddles?

From some light research I read that they seem to fit a number of horses well, but then read that they run on the narrow side? This one is a medium wide and I’m hoping that will allow me some room to play around with fit for the different horses I may be riding in lessons or exercise.

Collegiate used to be considered cheap and not great, but compared to what we consider “cheap and not great” today, they’re not so bad. Older style seat, but if you take care of it the leather lasted and held up. I think the issue was also often that they had a harder seat, not that Passier and Stubbens had soft seats, but they were less comfortable–like Lovatt and Rickets (used to be nicknamed “ball buster” saddles and were not comfortable for women either - ).
