Does anyone have experience with older Equispirit trailers (ie early aughts , 2001-2004)?. I am interested in a 2 horse BP and it seems like a good option . It is warmblood sized and airy, with escape doors and plenty of ventilation. Any thoughts on how they hold up over time?
I have a 2006 Equispirit. So a couple of
years beyond your range… Bought it new and it is in excellent shape 14 years on. The floor is original and is pristine. I am on my 3rd set of tires. I just replaced all the light fixtures this year (brake, turn signal, running lights)and the breakaway box. Other than that, everything is in good working order. I adore my trailer.
ps. I am in central FL also. If that gives you any idea how they hold up in our heat and humidity.
I have a 1999 Equispirit 2H BP w/ ramp and dress. I am the 2nd owner, have had it since May 2004. Floor and frame are in good condition, some rust, but not bad. Door latches aren’t reliable anymore so I dead bolt the escape doors and dressing room. Replaced the floor on the ramp and added thicker mats on ramp in 2010. Breaks still good. It’s been in Wisconsin since I bought it. 1st owner was in Colorado and didn’t use it at all.
Thanks folks. I am planning on looking closely for structural rust and any other issues. This trailer is intended to hold me over til I am saved up and ready to move up to a GN. Just looking for something safe and comfortable for my 16.2 horse.
I’m not sure about the specs on the trailer you’re looking at but my horse is a 16.3 warmblood and built like a tank and he fits comfortably in my 2006. Height wise and width. Mine is a 2 horse bp with two escape doors, dressing room, ramp and upper back doors. Good luck !
Thanks Three Wishes. The one I am looking at is warmblood size. I’ll let you know if I end up buying it.
I also do know equispirit has replacement parts and such online. I need to likely replace my breast bar and butt bar covers in the future. In my next trailer life I’d love a gooseneck too. And probably from a more local company like Shadow. A barn mate has a gorgeous Shadow GN that I covet. And they’re in Florida. Anyway… happy shopping. Safety first… go over it with a careful eye. Hope it works out!!
Hello - if the VIN# starts 1H9 then it was built by Hawk trailers… I am not exactly sure what year E SPirit started buying from Trail Et but if it is a white interior it may be a Trail et.
7’ tall 6’ wide would be a large / 7’8 tall 80" width would be an XXL
Either brand if maintained and not left sitting in a swamp should be just fine - have an inspection of all items on any used trailer!

Thanks again folks. This equispirit is a 2000 and turned out to have too much rust for my liking. It had a lot more steel in its construction than I had expected . Based on all my research I would be happy to find a well maintained model, with more aluminum construction , from the mid aughts.
