This thread most definitely brought a smile to my face, Coreene. And the fact that it was a charity show made it all the better. Oliver looks wonderful - what a striking horse. And your bling is so much fun.
Thanks for sharing!

It was for Red Bucket Equine Rescue. I have cried many times when they’ve brought horses in - the first group had been abandoned and were starving, and looked like the saddest Animal Cops horses. Many more were abandoned too, a few were AC rescues, and we even have a beautiful little donkey named Stetson. Sadly Oliver wants to kill him, so we give his stall a wide berth.
They started in 2009 and have rescued around 100. Many have gone to new homes, many are being schooled and will go to new homes, and some will be pasture puffs that will live out their days with RBER.
Aw, you both look FAB!!! Love MR O’s beeyootiful shiny coat and err…yours, too g tres’ chic
You both look stunning, especially with his size.
Does the ground shake when he trots in hand?
I bet the judges can’t miss him, he has such presence.
Seriously, you make a neat pair, in good taste, for that kind of competition.
I have seen some wild getups at some western shows.
It seems like more of a costume show than horse show at times.
I bet you had fun, like FUN.
I would teach him the low head cue.
At some breed shows, in hand is about a horse showing animation and they take that to the extreme.
In western shows, they like smoothness and no resistances, like throwing the head up.
That smoothness is what seems to place and win.
Practicing horsemanship halter patterns does make for a nice, attentive horse any time you handle them, a bonus from that training.
You will post pictures of the summer jacket, won’t you?
Bluey, he is so pissed about handwalking that a little jog is viewed by him as a Whoopie Moment, so this will give me something else to teach him. He seems to think it’s all great fun, so hopefully it will work . Five weeks until the next one.
You guys looke great!
I think now that you have the rest of the outfit, you need to get yourself some special boots
I was sitting here just a - snickering till I figured out that said booTs.
Coreene, ya’ll look fabulous!!
Class Act! TOTALLY! I am glad you had so much fun. Oliver, is as usual, stunning…Gorilla tape and all.
You, dear lady, are Bling Personified! Inside and out you shine! Woo Hoo!
Awesome!
I’ll bet the judges loved it that you showed up with your “off breed” trying to look the part. I showed my branded DWB in a versatility class and the judge and audience liked the spectacle. They thought it was amazing to see a WB do “peanut roller” and then a big USEF hunter trot and good jump in the hack.
They thought his “lope” was great. No, it’s just that the horse has done some Dres-sage and has never been allowed to drop his shoulder. The horse is dead lazy and thought WP was heaven on earth. He couldn’t believe he was allowed to go that slowly. So long as he didn’t fall on the forehand or out of the gait we were in, I left him alone. Yessirreebob, that beat the pants off Proper Dressage, he said.

I love the el cheapo hat. I didn’t realize until I saw the photos that it had little air holes on each side. But I draw the line at getting a $$$ hat for three seconds of showmanship.[/QUOTE]
Not me. I’m having a bit of a midlife crisis. I’d like buy the $500 hat and reorder my world along those lines, if you know what I mean.
I have new boots, I just forgot to bring them. Whoops!
So, even more exciting, in next month’s show they are also including HALTER!!! And you betcha that I’ll bring a 17.3hh warmblood into a western halter class. What fun!
