Ollie is gone

Ollie hit the lottery when he found you! He has had a much better and longer life than he would have otherwise.

I hope you guys can find something non invasive that helps him feel better and you have more time with him. (((Hugs))))

Thank you about jellybean. I hope both our guys hang in there awhile longer.

I should have named him Oscar - for Oscar the Grouch. He was - up til now - such an angry kitty. He hated the other cats and would stand several feet away from them shrieking bad things at them. he would growl at them incessantly and not just grrr but that full on war cry of his people. He’s a trip that’s for sure. lol

Hugs and jingles to you - I hug all of mine a little tighter these days, give them more kisses, let them snuggle on my lap a little longer. We have so little time with them, and sometimes it’s less than we think.

Here’s hoping for Ollie, Jellybean, and all the other kitties out there fighting to stay well - and mega-hugs for their mums, going above and beyond for their kitties. I wish I could offer more.

How’s Mr Bean tonight?

He’s about the same. A few licks of a/d, a few bites of kibble. He sleeps a lot but he does still lay right on my chest and in my face so he’s not feeling bad enough to stop that.

Thanks for asking! How’s Mr. Ollie?

I took Ollie to vet yesterday and got the xrays done. They found nothing on head xray but did find enlarged heart on chest xray. They have diagnosed him as heart failure - HCM. Vet also felt quite strongly that the thing in his mouth was a mass. Vet also did not think he was a great candidate for surgery (even for a biopsy) because of heart condition. Vet does not want to do a feeding tube - he was rather skeptical of the whole idea, just not that enthusiastic about it (said cats don’t typically do well, plus it was only temp solution). He now chokes on nearly everything unless I feed it to him at chin height with him sitting or standing. vet said to try the gabapentin and if that stops working we can try
something else.

Certainly not the news anybody was wanting to hear. :broken_heart:

May he still have many good days left. Many hugs to you and to Ollie.

I’m so sorry. That doesn’t sound so good. How is he acting? Have you tried blending his food into a liquid or soup? I wonder if that would be easier for him to swallow. Fingers crossed and wishing for some good days for Ollie (and you!).

It’s all soup. He can’t - and won’t - eat anything else.

I hate force feeding him - it’s no fun for either of us. But he can’t starve to death, either.

I will talk to his regular vet this weekend and see what ideas she has.

Yes, decisions have to be made.

I’m so sorry the news wasn’t better. I hope Ollie has more good days than bad for awhile and you can have more time with him.

((((Hugs))))

I have not contributed to the thread, but have followed. Thinking of you both and sending jingles.
