That’s right, Beth and Molly will be reporting with stories, photos, a virtual course walk of the cross-country course and blogs each day from Hong Kong, from the moment the eventers start dressage on Aug. 9 until the individual show jumping medals are awarded on Aug. 21. Interesting remark from him about the IOC “getting tough on daily journals/blogs”… Wonder what’s up with that…

Blog censorship

Kerri McGregor ( http://kerrimcgregor.wordpress.com/ ) is saying much the same thing…I’d got the impression that it was the Chinese instigating the censorship…I think I also heard mention of it in the news; that many Olympic bloggers are getting PO’d with the censorship, so the Chinese (IOC?) are relaxing the rules slightly.

Well, doesn’t THAT just blow. :frowning:

Kerri McGregor’s blog is awesome though, great pics!!!

The IOC is not worried so much WHAT people write/blog as WHEN they make it public.

Same as it was since Sydney Olympics.

Lots of media have paid LOTS of money to cover the events, and IOC is trying to keep to a minimum the number of private persons with computer/blackberry/iPhone who let (cough cough) their friends know the scores and so on BEFORE the paying media personnel.

ALl that has really changed since Sydney is the incredible amount of techno-gadgets we all have with which to communicate.

<g>

WHAT people write/can’t write…that is the province more of the BOCOG and their buddies in Hong Kong.

www.horsehero.com

also has lots of interesting Olympic coverage-- videos, interviews, etc etc.

Well, I’m just a spectator

I leave Thursday morning. I decided to start my own blog. You know, from a SMURFS point of view. I’ll try to post every day, we’ll see how it goes, there are some long days scheduled.

I’m not even a spectator, but I’m so appreciative of COTH for making this available to us.

I’m getting excited! And I haven’t been in the least.

Good for the Chinese regarding the stabling and the care they’ve set up for the equestrian teams.

I’m in Hong Kong…

and also have a blog! I will be attending the eventing competitions, but I am a total outsider…don’t expect me to know the horses’ barn names, or who the grooms are, etc.

So far it is more of a personal photo gallery / anecdotal look at things, but I will try to update with competition observations as well:

Cool! Now I am craving some peking duck and dim sum. I thought your comment about the dim sum was hilarious. Keep in mind that LA does have the best dim sum in North America because of all the HK immigrants there, so that’s prolly why it’s so similar there

Man, I so wish I was there!

Becky finally posted an update in her Blog

and pictures too : )
