I’m laughing, but wish I saw the “reel” thing. My stallion shows his 5th leg fairly often but I’ve never seen it swing in that direction, lol.
Yikes.
Although I wish none of those beautiful horses experienced blue tongue, if one of them belonged to the haughty and overweening IW, it would not surprise me. The light of day is a powerful disinfectant.
This is the first time in recent memory that NBC has done something right in my opinion, Having just John Lyle comment on the musical freestyles was PERFECT. He knows when to comment and when to shut up…something most of the commentators on NBC have no idea how to do.
I WILL say that I was trying to watch Steffen’s ride before I upgraded to commercial free Peacock and I just couldn’t get through listening to Karen’s “I’m retiriing story” one more time from whatever company the commercial was for.
I upgraded this weekend so I could scroll through and watch the rides I wanted to see.
I thought the commentators were a LOT better for the freestyle than they had been previously. Lyle spoke during the tests and Lucinda made general comments at the end.
but didn’t she medal? why is this just coming out now?
I have no clue (this is my middle name…IHNC)…what NSFW means.
As far as the “blur”… IHNC what it could be…Could it be sweat marks? Dirt? And would not start speculating and throwing things into the winds for social media critics.
No. I tell my students to write their term papers in a way to explain so that their grandmother could understand.
What??? Did the horse have an erection? It happens. I used to ride a stallion. We sometimes had instances of the 5th leg…eg an erect penis… hanging out in the winds.
But I sure did not see an erect penis in that blurred shot. Penises don’t live behind the saddle pad last time I looked.
The rest of the article notes that the investigation won’t impact standings. Instead, they had a “discussion.”
Remainder of article and link:
Animal rights campaign groups such as PETA have criticised dressage riders for using double bridles.
The FEI did not take any disciplinary measures and the findings will not affect the dressage results. The body’s vets notified the competition jury which then summoned the concerned riders for a “discussion” on the issue, Akerstrom said.
Reeling from the Dujardin incident, the Switzerland-based FEI had pledged it would be uncompromising in ensuring animal welfare in Versailles. The photo review for the first time included a layer of special checks linked to horse welfare.
FEI officials had earlier sanctioned a Brazilian rider for a controversial neck hyperflexion and disqualified some horses with minor bleeding during the Olympics.
IW makes it to Yahoo Sports
This quote will follow her…snip from the Yahoo article…
After the second day of the dressage test event in Versailles last Wednesday, a Danish reporter asked Werth to comment on Helgstrand’s suspension.
She bristled.
“I don’t discuss this here. Not more Charlotte, not more Andreas, not more Parro, nothing more. Everything is said,” Werth said. “I got a fantastic mare, and a very great, beloved mare, and I got super other horses from Helgstrand Dressage, so there’s nothing more to discuss.”

Swedish dressage rider Patrik Kittel, who competed in Paris, was investigated for excessively using rollkur.
The FEI examined him using it over an extended period of time on his horse, Scandic, during an event in October 2009.
Kittel was exonerated, but received a warning and informed his actions would be monitored.
Earlier this year, Swedish newspaper Sportbladet’s website published photos of Kittel at a World Cup event in Amsterdam, where Touchdown’s tongue appeared to turn blue as it flopped out.
I’m waiting for more information. I didn’t see any blue tongues during the rides, so I’m not sure what horses were seen with over-tight contact. I did see many riders who rode with a loose curb rein.
Are your students writing humour? No, I thought not. Is your students’ audience lacking the ability to comprehend that not all writing is technical nor does all writing need to be completely transparent to be understood? … let’s not answer that one. But I will say that most grandmothers are, er, well-versed enough in anatomy and humour to understand 12-year-old boy humour (and perhaps even laugh at it) even if they don’t themselves write it.
I’m thinking he had dropped from the excitement of the moment but the appendage was still a bit flaccid, which is how it managed to swing all that way around. If it occurred during the awards ceremony, he would have been around a few mares (Wendy, Dalera, Freestyle), so not unexpected that he would react to that stimuli. (My gelding used to drop when he got “up” about something. )
Are we STILL talking about the penis?
Anyway should anyone want to wail about dressage horses never getting turned out, here’s Bomba:
I could upload it to YT?
He had a swinger. So in one frame it appears to be reaching into the handler’s armpit (that is the frame I posted then deleted), then next it has swung up and possibly touched his flank. That is the photo I posted originally: a blurred (because it was in motion) penis slapping the horse in the flank. The following frame has the head of the penis level with “Team GB” on the pad.
The video was funny because it looks as though the handler gets slapped by the penis.
NSFW - not safe for work.
My gelding likes to drop it on me when I’m doing his rugs up. I’m definitely not shocked - but the handler looked like he got slapped by it.
Well, I really tell the students to write their papers (in engineering school) like their professor is the village idiot.
I have no clue (that phrase again) what some of the alphabet of acronyms mean. So if the horse had an erection, say that. I still don’t understand what the picture was all about.
If the picture was of a penis…flaccid or erect…I sure missed that.
Dressage people excessive booting I swear
