Olympic Show Jumping Thread

Replays do require a log-in. I don’t have cable so I signed up for Sling TV’s Blue service—they’re running a promo at $10 for the first month, which seemed worth it to watch all the replays on-demand. You create an account with Sling, then go to the NBC Olympics website and log in with your Sling credentials.

I have the free NBC Sports AP thing downloaded on my phone. I went in clicked on my cable TV provider and watched the show jumping, this morning live. Kind of small but better than nothing.

Only found one day of dressage actually broadcast on TV.

Full results from the first round:

American, Ashley Bond, riding for Isreal, was fast/clear and is in third position heading into the finals.

Best wishes!

As helpfully posted in the aforementioned Olympics topic area, you can get Sling for a month for $10 and do it that way. Watching in US - Cable Cutters Unite!

Those accents, though. :ireland::ireland::ireland:

The threads in individual forums were running way before The Olympic forum was set up.

NBCSN is showing some jumper coverage from this morning right now.

Here is the order for the individual final on Wednesday, 8/4, at 6 AM Eastern.

Sweden is on fire this morning! All three clear. Amazing rides!!

Peder Fredricson’s horse is barefoot - very cool.

Two of the three horses from Sweden are barefoot.

Think of the savings on farrier bills! Lol.

I guess we all know what to say the next time someone says they can’t do the jump off without studs!

Once the US was out, I was all in on All In (and Explosive W, because who wouldn’t love that horse) so that was a fun class you watch!

Do they jump GP’s barefoot on turf though?

Sounds scary. I have seen a barefoot horse slip and go down on turf. Much lower than FEI GP height.

Maybe they do something different for those venues. Or just skip the places that still have turf. I can only think of a handful of shows in the United States that would have a Grand Prix on grass.

I’m sure there are shows that still do it, but I’ll bet you could easily plan a full show schedule without going to those places.

And it depends on the horse because while show jumpers see turf once in a blue moon, my CDE pony does some pretty high speed turns on turf, grassy hills and other footing that would make my former HP self die a little at just the idea, never mind the execution, and he does it barefoot. I wasn’t sure that would be the case, I thought we’d have to put shoes on and stud up once we moved up, but I’m still waiting for him to show me he isn’t confident in the footing while barefoot.

Yes, I don’t think the Swedish riders show much over here? I remember they were at the World Cup Final in Omaha. That was an indoor arena. Pre their horses being shoeless.

I don’t know that there are that many Euro FEI GP jumper shows that are outside on turf?

Not sure it’s been mentioned, I read the horse, All In, is the second horse in the last 100 years to win two individual Olympic medals in show jumping.
