Olympic Team Show Jumping Concludes Wednesday, August 17

Ha ha definitely. Can’t see how he could be booted from the individual but allowed back in for the team. Overuse of the whip outside the arena, heaven only knows what was going on.
Blue knows - and he’s not gonna let him forget! Some horses really do have their own sense of justice!

I have to say, I am SUPER impressed with the Qatar team this year. They look like they’ve really gotten their ducks in a row and they all look like very educated riders who have really earned their spots instead of just buying their way there with previous medal winners. And the burgundy jackets and the subtle burgundy piping on the helmets? Wearing team colors in a classy way! I really despise the flags on the side of the helmets, it looks so gaudy!

cheering for canada but would love to see brazil get a medal

Sorry I doubt she will qualify for the individual final. She will definitely ride tomorrow as part of the team final for the USA. Tomorrow is the team final and the third individual qualifier. Only the top 35 go forward to the Individual finals which take place after the team finals.
Yeah I know some individuals won’t go forward as such but someone was saying the format would be 3 for team. Nations Cup format I thought. So those not going on as ind still ride for teams moving on and drop score format.

Can anyone confirm?

Thanks,

Commentators on my feed said he just hasn’t seemed himself this competition. :(
I wonder if the conditions aren’t good for him. That’s a very big, black horse, and it looks like the sun is pretty bright out there. Weather report says temperature of 81 degrees there right now.

I’m trying to think of the last time I’ve seen him show in weather like this - it seems that she normally shows him at Wellington, Spruce Meadows, Indoors. All of which are a bit cooler.

Good call, my horse is black and I like them to bring her in out of the sun during hot days as she does get so warm. And that’s HERE, where’s it’s not exactly scorching.

I believe what that person what saying is that each country is only allowed 3 riders in the individual final, even if 4 qualify. The entire team will jump in the team final.

only the top 8 teams return tomorrow?
doesn’t tomorrow’s round count for who goes on for individual too?

I’m still just in love with Quabri de L’Isle. That horse is to die for… Rider ain’t half bad either

OHHHHH! Lol. That makes sense.

Thank you!

That was one costly counter-canter for Ludger. In an otherwise gorgeous round. I missed 50% of the class but my two favorites are the ginger ladies, Fit for Fun and Flora de Mariposa. And Quabri L’Isle. Be still my heart!

The top 8 teams, as well as the qualified individual riders will jump tomorrow.

So pleased for Penelope to jump an important clean round. God I wish she hadn’t fallen yesterday.

I don’t know about Cortes, I know they used him very little this year, but I didn’t think he looked on form in Aachen and I’m feeling like he looks depleted here. Could be the weather. Worried though bc he didn’t have to compete yesterday. Really hoping he is able to get a good night’s rest and feel stronger tomorrow. The level of competition is so high, we need the best from all four of our riders. Absolutely top class rounds from Lucy, Kent and Mclain!

It’s the top 8 teams and top 45 individuals. So say, even though Spain’s team didn’t qualify through, their rider with 0 faults so far will go on, and jump to qualify for individuals.

Thanks, that’s what I was saying. The format of the Olympics/WEG can be really hard to follow until you watch a couple.

The announcers said Qatar is being coached by Jan Topps, and one of them said Qatar now has a full team of capable riders, not just 2.

Canada qualified all 4 team members for the individual finals! But does this mean we can only have 3 riders actually compete?

It was a bit odd to see the camera pan to George Morris cheering for the Brazilian team!

But super ride from the last Brazilian rider!

Tomorrow’s another individual qualifier, so I’d imagine they’d take the 3 with the lowest score after tomorrow. But in theory, yes, if all 4 qualify, the Team would pick which 3 would go on to individuals.

Qatar has been with jan for a while now and really have been improving dramatically.

Yes, only a max of three riders per nation can compete in the individual finals.

Why? He coached them.
