Olympics 2024

Oops, meant to post that in the eventing thread, but still kinda works here, right?

The Peacock coverage is great. I joined for a monthly fee a few days ago. $8 ??? Not sure if Iā€™ll keep it or how hard it is to cancel, but they did give a monthly option.

The Equestrian page is easy to find, and the replays are available right away.

Horses have arrived in Paris! Weā€™re so close.
I hope the US Show Jumping Team has better luck than the rest of ours have been having.

Kevin Staut is out. Iā€™m gutted for him, not being able to perform on his home turf.

ugh, possible hematoma.

Absolutely stinks to get this far, have a good morning ride, and then have your horse be off by the end of the day. And at the Olympics no less. It doesnā€™t get more ā€œthatā€™s horsesā€ than that.

That absolutely stinks.

it is awful. But it happens. It happened to Tami overseas once. She flew a horse over, and he was FINE that morning. Then for the jog, he came up hopping lame. I cannot even imagine how that would happen, but it does.

Itā€™s usually stupid stuff too which is the worst part. Horse farted and spooked itself, pulling a shoe. Horse was trying to itch an itch and maimed itself. Horse kicked board and all of a sudden is 3-legged lame. Horse saw its own reflection, spooked, got its feet mixed up and fractured a side bone after 3 days of NQR-ness.

All very unfortunate personal experiences of mine. :upside_down_face:

Fingers crossed itā€™s a quick recovery for them. There are still more big events for the year!

Not that thereā€™s ever a full break from the barn, but I hope that some of the athletes that are out of contentioin (looking at all of our US Dressage riders) still have other opportunities to enjoy themselves at the games.

is there anything else in Europe for them?

When they jogged hunters for back to back rounds they would jog up the ring for the first round, reassemble for the order of the second round, and then jog back. A friendā€™s horse jogged up sound, turned around, and was DFL on the way back :woman_facepalming:t3:. She pinned in the first round and was spun for the second. Turned out to be an abscess and they figured he squished it into a more painful position when he turned around.

Me, too via my Xfinity internet. Iā€™ll deal with ads if it means I can watch any event either live or via replay in their entirety - not just what NBC decides to give airtime to. I like some oddball events that get a 30 second recap if youā€™re lucky on the network. Canoe & Kayak slalom, Sport Climbing, Archery, Shooting, etcā€¦

So I canā€™t watch equestrian (donā€™t have and canā€™t get Peacock) but on NBC I am forced to watch 3 man basketball. When did 3 man basketball become an Olympic sport?? :frowning:

You canā€™t put the Peacock app on your phone or tablet? Of course, you will have to get an account with them.

I have caught some replays on USA or NBC, but they arenā€™t the full thing usually.
If you want to watch live/full time - you do have to have Peacock I believe.
I dont have cable, so I havenā€™t tried to log in with a cable network.

My xfinity plan wonā€™t allow me, I guess because I have the most basic plan. Thus, getting Peacock is impossible because of the data usage issue also. NBC is not my favorite network right now.

Does anyone know why Luciana Diniz is out? She just posted on SM, with no reasoning. She is one of my all-time favorite riders in her snaffle bits and no martingales. I was really looking forward to seeing her go.

I saw that and was also wondering. Hopefully nothing serious

ETA they added it! https://olympics.com/en/paris-2024/results/equestrian/jumping-team/qual000100--

Does anyone know when the order of go is drawn? The order isnā€™t on the official site where the others were posted (it says check back later ).

I saw that too, sheā€™s such a ray of sunshine, what a total bummer!
