Olympics 2024

I mean, just about anyone would be preferable. I had to turn off the sound this morning because I couldn’t stand it. For someone who knows nothing about dressage, she provides no helpful guidance about what you’re looking at, what the goal is, which rides or movements are particularly good or bad and why, the reasons for scores (many many times she remarks on how great a movement is, like an extended walk, and the score that pops up is a 5 or something). For someone who does know about dressage, her comments are sometimes nonsensical, often irrelevant, offer no additional expert insight, and show no evidence that she has any actual knowledge of international level dressage competition.

It’s annoying and aggravating, and also so disappointing. She adds no value for horse people and does less than nothing to catch the attention or interest of laypeople who might be surfing through Olympic sports.

It looks like Karl’s horse did the jog for the individual final, along with Laura and McLain’s horses.

perhaps a stupid question- since lameness can pop up at any time, did we have all 4 jog?

No, Kent didn’t jog Greya.

Karl did well for an Olympic rookie and the team medals are where most riders say that if they choke, it will be during the pressure of riding on the team. Best wishes for all riding in the individual rounds.

Kent’s mare had a cough, they thought related to allergies? I think they don’t want to risk her health.

I love Jessica because she always knew so much about the horses. Like when the rider bought them, the former rider, the breeding etc. Totally agree that Lucinda adds next to nothing

Thanks!

Oh, me too- he’d be at home on the jousting field.

Am I the only one that found Randy Moss’s insistence on talking about Laura Kraut’s age a lot and never mentioning some of the other male riders WHO WERE OLDER, annoying?

I was offended on Laura’s behalf by the woman announcer who pointed out Laura’s
Olympic record, age and then said “congratulations Granny.”

She wasn’t calling men “Grampa”.

I doubt Kraut cares though.

I think the announcers are fed statistics, because they have to say something , and some of them don’t know squat about what they are watching. “The Oldest” “The Youngest” “The First” etc… are mentioned repeatedly.

They mentioned that the dressage lady who won gold was the oldest woman to win a gold medal since 1904, so they weren’t doing it specifically to Laura Kraut.

Me too. Kent is my favorite rider and I really like that mare.

No they weren’t. They’re doing it in all of the sports. Swimming, track and field etc…

My issue was with the woman who called her “granny”, but as I mentioned above, I doubt she cares.

I agree that’s really out of place coming from an Olympic commentator, on air, towards an Olympian.

Laura is quoted as saying she once again broke her record as being the oldest female athlete to win a medal since 1906. I only hear awe and pride when her age or grandmother title is mentioned, nothing else. YMMV.
