Okay. Who would you match and why?
How about Sapphire to Jaguar Mail? (Okay he didn’t do so hot, but I still like the idea of that)
California to Zorro?
And who gets the honour of a date with the Gold medal horse Hickstead?

Well, you had Jaguar Mail and Headley Brittania already. The groom’s a friend of mine and so she arranged for the two to meet…very cute, until Jaguar decided that he really liked her. Fortunately he was in a high mesh pen, or the Olympics would have seen a whole new kind of jumping!!!
But the Sapphire x Jaguar Mail is a great idea.
Don Schufro X Brentina I’d sure love to see that cross.
That would have been an interesting conversation. “Brit, meet Jaguar. You have had two of his babies although you haven’t actually met him. Or the babies, for that matter”
I’m not sure of exactly who would work with Brentina, but I would think that something tall and leggy might work well – what about Stedinger or maybe Dressage Royal? Actually, I would even go out on a limb and say what about a Trakehner?

I agree with TKR and would pick a tall, leggy stallion for Brentina. Don Schufro x Brentina would make for a heavier, old-style, shorter legged foal. I would think that Sandro Hit, Stedinger, or Sir Donnerhall might work. Stedinger very frequently throws BIG foals, though, that end up at 17h or better, and I wouldn’t want that height combined with Brentina’s substance. This could also be a problem with Sir Donnerhall, if the Donnerhall came through stronger than the Sandro. Another idea is Londonderry, but TKR may be onto something - a Trakehner might be a good choice for Brentina, although may not give a quick enough hindleg.
I would think that trying frozen semen on Brentina might be a tricky proposition, given her age. That would limit the choices to stallions standing in N.A. Hmmm - Fabuleux, Contucci, and Sinatra Song come immediately to mind, although the first two can also make very substantial foals. What about Royal Prince? He is not tall, but he is pretty refined.

So does that make Brit chestnut trash?
Where can I see a photo of Jaguar Mail and the others of his similar breeding?
TIA

Well, if Brentina needs fresh, what about Dacaprio or Oskar II? They would both offer legginess and are proven dressage horses/producers with less heaviness. Or maybe Rosenthal?

Well, I wouldn’t say that to her face. I suspect she is one tough cookie.
Oh I thought we were just doing Olympic horse on Olympic horse
If we are venturing out of that, then I 100% agree with Sandro Hit or Stedinger and Brentina. But oh boy would I love to see a Fabuleux X Brentina
Are the Thomas’ going to be breeding her?
I hope they are
I found these horses really interesting:
Casino (Holst) (Cash-Lord-Calvados 2)ridden by Morten Djupvik of Norway pedigree
http://www.bessemeind.com/english/dekhengsten/Casino.htm
UN BLANC DE BLANCS (BWP) (SHEYENNE de BAUGY-QUAT’SOUS) ridden by Pedro Veniss of Brazil.
Anyone know more about this horse?
Yes, I wanted to play “Olympic Matchmaker” just for fun. But you know how things go around here…they tend to go their own way!

For fresh, I would do RP with Brentina; he actually does add legs and is refined. I would not do Contucci with her – no way – he can throw very heavy. Of the SHs, the only one I would use is Stedinger; I have seen some heavy Sir Donnerhalls (depends on how much the Donnerhall comes through in the baby). And I agree, a Stedinger baby could end up tall, but I don’t think Brentina is overly tall (I think 16.2?). Maybe Florencio.
I think that Contucci would be out of the running anyway -I forgot that he and Brentina are both out of Lungau mares.
I did think about Florencio, but didn’t name him for two reasons: 1) he is in Europe, so the breeding would have to be by frozen; 2) he is EVA positive, which would complicate things even more.
To bring the thread back to the subject (Florencio didn’t go to the Olympics that I was watching), I’d breed Jalisca Solier (Alligator Fontaiine) to Cornet Obolensky.
Now THIS is a cross that I think would be lovely! That would be a very nice foal. IMHO, the best choice suggested so far!

Yep, and that’s why I mentioned him earlier. I think overall RP would be a very good cross for Brentina (even though he hasn’t gone to the Olympics).

One of my mares has a very similar damline to Brentina’s and has some strengths and weaknesses in common with her, and RP is on my mare’s list for next year (that mare is currently in foal to Stedinger).
