It’s true. For our hols Easter Friday, we went to a local zoo, which is quite hands-on. I will post later, the pics of me petting the Tiger and playing with the African Wild Dogs.
The zoo owner put a four day old baby bunny in my hands, then proceeded to poke and prod it to show it to a group of onlookers. Lo and behold- zoink!- it leaps out of my hand and throws itself onto the shavings-covered concrete floor! ACK!!! Turns out it was OK, and this was before I figured that the bunnies were more likely than not going to join the food chain at this place, which did a remarkable job of providing for the animals by it’s own labours…
This has so far got to be my most memorable easter, though!!
Cool pictures of the “BUNNY HOP”
Did you take pictures of the Zonkey?

Would you believe the Zonkey is about the only thing we didn’t get a pic of? He was really tall, quite heavy bone. He had striped (grey/black) legs, and the stripes came up his hips/flanks and some on his shoulders. He also had some faint Zebra markings around his face, his ears were rounder and not as long, but other than that, more resembled a donkey than zebra.
He came right over to us, and pressed himself against he fence to be petted, and kicked and tossed his head and bit the cage when we stopped petting. He had just the coolest bad attitude ever! I was glad I was on the other side of the fence!
heidi- Two of what were probably Santa’s reindeer were safe from me behind a fence. Or else maybe we would have had to re-write that song, Grandma got run over by a reindeer to Guess who just ran over a reindeer…
SoEasy- Holy! I thought things didn’t get any wierder than that jumping cat!! Do you think they actually scored the bunny jumping classes??
They’re sneaky critters aren’t they???
Jaime’s bunny went to school for their easter party, and the kids had a blast!!! He doesn’t do the suicide jump though, he just licks your face.
On that website, what language is that?
edit
Swedish. I posted to their guest book and got back a lovely reply in Swedish that I absolutely cannot read. But aren’t they something else? I love the little jump courses.
Oh shoot, I forgot what made it an Equineally-related post- the Zonkey! Cross between a Zebra and a donkey (yes both are equines). That thing had more attitude that I have EVER seen in an animla, and it was COOL!
ps…yes very fortunate the bunny bounced. But I guess at that age, there’s hardly any bones, just goo inside. In any event, he’s probably dinner for the wild dogs anyway…
I was riding my mare around bareback in the pasture and a brown and white rabbit/bunny? jumped out from under a tree and scampered across the pasture. Very cute.
Just stay away from Santa’s reindeers, Boss Hoss.
OMG, I loved the “cross country course” through the trees, up the hill. Toooo cute.
look at these Bunnies!!!
Louise sent me this link the other day …
I just have to share with you all
