On the road to the 2012 Kentucky Derby

With regards to Daddy Long Legs and the “hot and sweaty”. He was pretty hot and sweaty when winning the Dubai race.

When US commentators comment on a mildly hot day at Arlington it is NO COMPARISON to mildly hot here. US mildly hot would be a weather related calamity over here! This horse shipped in having spent the last couple weeks being rugged up and training in nasty cold wet wind and rain. I still have the med weights on my lot and they ain’t expensive racehorses in training.

Not saying he will win but really I’m not surprised he’s hot and sweaty. Of course he is. Had I shipped any of mine over it would be the warmest day of their whole lives. And the would let you know they might die! He will be fine and has delt with hotter conditions.

All turf races will be run on the dirt today due to 1.5 inches of rain last night.
Track is listed as fast.[/QUOTE]

They’ll hardly move the Woodford Reserve, a G1, off the grass?
That would be a travesty. There would be no point in running it in that case, just cancel it. Move the lesser races for sure, not a G1…

Concur and it would be subject to being downgraded from G1.

Per the latest scratched/changes at CD: “AT THIS TIME SOME RACES REMAIN SCHEDULED ON THE TURF” (their all caps not mine)

Good! Earlier they said otherwise.

No racing person…

But I Love Michael Matz, that said I usually pick anything Mike Smith rides! Do not know much about Bodemeister except he is a Baffert horse

NBC Sports is sending everyone to watch the early races on Twin Spires. Twin Spires keeps freezing up on me today. It normally does not freeze up. System overload?

I’m so 'cited! Two years ago we had front row seats to see 20 of the world’s best 3-year olds thunder past.

Aiden O’Brien’s horse has won the 2000 Guineas.

Wouldn’t THAT be a neat daily double for a trainer?

Hello? Care to actually tell us the name of the horse???

Camelot in the 2000 Guineas - NICE name. I like horses with names that have some dignity to them.

Trainer also has Daddy Long Legs in the Derby - not a great name, but there are far worse in this same Derby, IMHO. Daddy Long Legs is a better name than Daddy Nose Best.

I know, I know, they don’t run on the names. But some TB names make me cringe.

Yikes, Groupie Doll just smashed the track record for 9f at Churchill!
Track is lightning fast.
We could be in for a scorching hot Derby.

Here’s the replay

Camelot was ridden by Aidan O’Brien’s son Joseph O’Brien.

TY.

Supposed to be 85 this afternoon, or am I dreaming that I saw that.

But the humidity is unbearable.

Stay classy, lady texting during the national anthem, stay classy. Then there was the guy drinking his beer…

Ugh, that clip of Dr. Hansen throwing a temper tantrum when Mike Maker washed out the tail. What a egotistical baby.

BTW - Optimizer will NOT ride in the Calumet colors. The official jockey photo clearly shows he’s in Brad Kelley’s current silks. I think the issue was (a) the current trust did not have they to transfer and (b) the programs were already issued outlining the silk colors - a last minute change isn’t going to work.

Nah - if you read the articles he isn’t a bad dude. Honest. He just wants to inject some fun and there was a breakdown in communication between MM and Dr. K. Hansen. He’s not a shallow guy at all.
