One AC

I recently started to feed my gelding One AC because he stopped sweating. I don’t know if his system was just overloaded and he couldn’t produce sweat or what but the One AC has helped.

He’s the first horse I’ve ever had to do this with and I have questions. My vet said once it’s consistently below 90 I can stop feeding him. Has anyone else done this? I just stopped feeding him and of course Texas weather has been all over the place. He’s currently sweating like he used to on his own and is showing no signs of distress.

I’m curious to hear other stories about this. I’m wondering if I will need to continue this next year or if its possible his system just needed a ‘reset’. Equiwinners is also available in my area so I’m debating trying that instead.

I quit feeding OneAC each fall when the night time temps were consistently in the low 60s, high 50s, usually around October/November and it coincided with his regular fall vacation. In talking with vets, trainers, and what little research I could find, it seemed the cooler nights were a primary trigger to help the sweating system. I started my horse back on OneAC (or Sweat Again also worked for him) in March (in Ocala FL) when he was likely to start sweating regularly in work, but about a month before it got truly HOT outside.
