Online Dressage Showing: what tests?

Has anyone attended (or hosted) an online dressage show, and if so, what tests did you use? EC is telling me that USEF won’t allow their tests to be used for an online show. ADS will let me use their tests for driven dressage. Not sure about WDAA for western.

Schooling shows use USEF/USDF tests, so I think an online show would be in the same situation.

@AZ TD they must be doing it outside of the rules. All my feedback has been that USEF has no allowanced for their tests being used in an online format, and EC only allows it for their “Am I ready” program. I don’t think my judges are willing to risk their cards to judge online.

Seems short-sighted. Western and driven are both embracing online.

For a schooling show, do what you want.

We are allowed to use EC/USEF tests at a schooling show. So I would want the same ability. I am not understanding why their use is limited. I can understand fees being required, or membership being required, I do not see why the tests are simply not allowed to be used. Although it seems that there are groups ignoring this, and going ahead anyway…but I would worry about putting my judges at risk.

All of the ones I’ve done have allowed USEF dressage tests. Some also allow the USEF eventing/ WDAA/ gaited tests-- basically anything non FEI. All have been judged by USEF L, r, R, or S judges. Dressageshowsonline.com offer some that are WDAA recognized (and require certain additional things like showing the bit at the end of the test.) The FEI made their feelings on using the FEI tests very clear but I wasn’t aware that USEF wasn’t allowing it.

Where is the statement that declares that schooling shows are governed by USEF or USDF? honest question.

You are not allowed to use EC tests at a schooling show. I run a schooling show series in Ontario and ran into this when we started up last year. I was originally told I could lease the official tests for use at our shows, then that was corrected. You must be sanctioned through EC to use their tests.

We use CADORA tests, which are free and expressly tell you to use them for schooling shows. They go up to Fourth: http://www.cadora.ca/dressage-tests/

Usually the GMO or show organizers state that their schooling shows follow USEF rules with the exception of dress code in their prize lists.

It’s not a question of rules. The tests are copyrighted by USEF.

I have emailed hniebielski@usef.org to ask for clarification.

Interesting. they told me you can use EC tests for a club show. You just have to pay $30.00. Might be new this year though? If you need help getting access to them I can forward you the contact I have. I know the AEF shows run here use EC tests, and I have no doubt they are following the rules.

They need to be sanctioned as ESD (Equestrian Skills Development), which is the EC’s version of “schooling show”, otherwise you can’t use the tests.

I know, because I was given incorrect information on this by Ontario Equestrian, and got a lovely cease and desist email from EC threatening legal action.

I do see this on the EC site: “EC/PTSO affiliated dressage clubs - $30 (annual fee)” - I’m guessing this is what your club falls under? I need to look up how to go about getting affiliated, but it’s probably impossible to find on the EC or OE sites.
