Online European Tack Stores

I have, across several different topics, seen various mentions of tack stores that people have bought from internationally to take advantage of the exchange rate to get better deals (most recently on the helmet thread). I know there are places I’ve missed, and I’d also like to shop from a site that someone has vouched for. What are some websites people have successfully used to buy products at a discount that ship to the U.S.?

I’m in Canada, but I have had good experiences with Calevo. I have ordered from them several times, and I find the best thing to do is to get a group order together if possible to split the shipping, and if you register and order >500E you get a 15% discount on top of the 19% VAT discount.

The only annoying thing is that they ship DHL which is absolutely horrendous. I usually get charged a brokerage fee, but it’s never been much over $100 (and that was on an order of a GPA helmet, a billion pairs of Roeckls, a set of Veredus boots and quite a few coolers/stable sheets that were horse show prizes.

ETA: I also let barn-mates use my account if they want to put an order in so that we can keep the loyalty discount

I’ve heard really good things about Amira Equi as well as Calevo, I just haven’t ever bit the bullet, even as tempting as their Pikeur prices are.

I’ve ordered from Divoza and Schockemohle - they ship faster than SmartPak sometimes! The best items to take advantage of are the European brands. I got a full set of Veredus boots for less than what the front boots cost in the US. Also got Ego7 boots for about $325 for trainer’s xmas gift. Second the recommendation of combining orders for multiple people to split shipping.

I’ve used Calevo for some Pikeurs (SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper!) and a pair of Eskadron boots. Very happy with the order process, worked fine with my AmEx card. Took a while to arrive, but not significantly longer than other overseas purchases. I’ve also bought from thehuntingshop.co.uk but that’s more foxhunting/sidesaddle stuff.

Look at the exchange rates, and the rates on the card/account you’re using to buy. I get a better rate on my credit card than on my bank card, hence using it to buy. Also UK pound versus Euro.

I have purchased a Samshield from https://www.myselleria.us and it went very smoothly. 10 out of 10 would buy through them again if they had something I was in search of.

I have ordered several LeMieux half pads from horsehealth.co.uk and I’m quite happy with the service and the half pads.

I also ordered Pikeur breeches from Amira Equi, and even after shipping they were $100 less than I would have spent here. If you can gather together an order from several people, you can save even more on shipping.

I’ve ordered from Calevo, Ooteman, and Divosa.

Have had good experiences with all three. Calevo’s shipping takes the longest but they have good prices. Divosa is crazy fast and Ooteman was pretty close.

Agree 100% with HJDaydream – myselleria.us is completely reliable and ships SO quickly!

I really appreciate all the responses! I’m going to keep this bookmarked for the future.

I ended up going through Equishop.com where I was able to get a Miss Shield for just under $340 USD, including shipping. It shipped out within two business days via UPS, so I’m so far thrilled.

It’s amazing how much cheaper these brands are over in Europe! Smartpak and Dover want over $500 for a Pikeur show coat. I got it for less then $300 on Amira Equi. I guess us American riders have “sucker” written on our foreheads

what are the shipping charges like? and how do you deal with the duty into the US?

I feel like Amira has caught on to the American shortcut and now hiked their prices? I would be wrong?

I have ordered breeches from Amira and it was an easy experience. Their customer service is fantastic (prompt and accurate answers). Mine were custom ordered so took about 8 weeks to arrive but definitely worth the wait!

Custom ordered breeches?! Where have I been! Tell me more.

I buy lots of things from the UK and Europe either because I can’t find the product in North America or because the items are much cheaper even including shipping. The main sites I’ve used have been:

Redpost Equestrian (great prices on all sorts of things)
PS of Sweden (fabulous bridles, brow bands, and other leather strap goods such as reins, martingales, etc.)
Raceview Equestrian
GS Equestrian

Haha. They allow you to pick colours for the seat/main fabric. I wanted white with a light gray full seat for showing - love them and they are still my top pick for shows despite being about 4 years old now.

Emmers is also great. I find their online store doesn’t have everything that definitely have so I wouldn’t hesitate to call them and ask for something in particular.

Thats awesome. going to have to look into it.

Does anyone know if Kraemer/Kramer ships to US anymore? Sounds like they did at one point, but any store location (DE/UK/BE/FR) when you try to check out wont allow you to select USA as country.
