Is there anyone that carries a good supply of TB race tack online? I have Big Dee’s at that’s about all I can find. I’m looking for a nice leather race bridle.
join the club…I want to open one up and kill the market, but I just have no time to start a new business right now. Big money in them there hills…track tack shops are just way too expensive and they get away with it because it’s convenient.
Unfortunately, there is very little on ebay as well.
Someone did post a nice site that had them for around $130. Maybe they’ll post that info again.
I know this is not online (so not what you asked for) but think about it.
Bartville Harness, 1243 Noble Road, Christiana PA 17509 makes their own strap goods, lots of racing stuff such as bridles, yokes, neck straps, maybe even exercise saddles (they were thinking about it). They are very inexpensive & make good quality stuff. We have actually had British trainers send us money to go to Bartville, buy stuff, & ship it to them because of the good prices & excellent quality. Bartville strap goods have been worn by winners of the some of the biggest races in the US, such as Breeders’ Cup races.
Anyway, if you write Bartville & send them a dollar, they will send you a “catalog” which is only a few pages. They don’t take credit cards, so you do have to send a check or money order & order by mail but it might be worth it. Orders up to $300 are $14 for shipping, $300-$500 are $16 for shipping & from $500-$900 is $18 for shipping.
If it’s me you’re thinking of Dick (with the white leather bridle) that was Big D’s. It’s a good quality bridle, but as for a TB racing only catalog, there really isn’t much out there. Big D’s leans more to STB then TB unfortunately. I did get a contact for someone in FL when I asked about shadowrolls, and unfortunately she seems to do everything but them. I did meet a new custom tack person up at Woodbine a week ago who should be able to do them for me but she’s backlogged for a while. The business is out there, just getting the resources and the customers together is a PITA.
Evalee, thanks for the tip on Bartville. I think I remember them from PA.
nightmoves, if you want the person who I got from FL’s contact info and price list for things like saddle towels, coolers and girth covers, I’d be happy to PM it to you. At least she’s closer to you, and might know of other contacts down there.
Well I remembered that Quillin’s Leather in KY did some awesome halters so I checked there and they do have bridles. Afull bridle with reins and cavesson is about 225. but if they are anything like the halters they’ll be awesome too.

The Jocks Room has a website.[/QUOTE]
What is the Canadian vs. American exchange rate because those prices seem really high. $75 for paddock wraps???
Stemmans has decent prices on bridles:

KBC has a good online store:

And, Pinkston’s:

Not favorable enough to justify the difference. Nice stuff, but…
Don’t know the exchange rate, but www.saddlery.biz has a decent variety, but not a lot of custom items.
greenhawk?
We bought some stuff at Bartville about a week ago. For the information of all, I checked the price tags this morning:
Bridle with noseband, no reins, no bit: $57
racing reins: $70
yoke: $30
neckstrap & strap that goes from yoke to girth: $30
Don’t know whether those prices are good or bad, but just to let you know.
The neckstrap and strap would be the yoke (or martingale I’ve heard up here), and the triangle with rings the reins go through would be the fork. Both seem reasonably priced.
