Some here set about 6’+ post and put used car tires, filled and between them dirt, for stout windbreaks.
Other materials, like used conveyor belting, is what our vet clinic uses between pens, is also good as windbreaks.
Here is one way to use recycled car tires for windbreaks:
A lovely idea, except the other voting members of the family trust would have an absolute meltdown that would make a tire fire look elegant and smell better

Could you do the portable pens with the roof like they use at shows and such and then just add plywood? Like roundpen panels. That would be very portable and also useful in the off season.
