Did anyone see the little boy walking with Yao Ming? He is an honorary flag bearer for his heroics. This 9 yo little boy was in a school that collapsed in the earthquake, and 20 of his 30 classmates perished. He freed himself from the rubble, and then returned to free 2 more of his class mates. When he was asked why he said “I’m the hall monitor, it’s my job.” What an amazing little boy.

I saw the little guy but missed the story. That’s too special.

I know, that was awesome!

I just got done watching it. I can’t imagine what it must have been like in real life.

Yao Ming is a truly nice person. Watching him give his commentary while holding the little boy who saved two classmates after the earthquake and saying that it would stay with that little boy for the rest of his life… very moving.

Believe it or not, I feel more hope for the future after watching the opening ceremonies than I have since 9/11.

We all have a new date to think about. 08/08/08. The day that the most amazing opening ceremonies ever done for the Olympics. The day China wanted to introduce themselves to the rest of the world.

I wish Lilly Zilo had made it to the Chinese team in Dressage.

I have to say the opening ceremony was amazing…a truly beautiful and awesome spectacle – with all those words connote – in every sense. And the architecture of the buildings for the Games is stunning.

The major networks might replay it during an off time.

I’m catching up on the rest of the opening ceremonies that I Tivo’ed last night. I am really touched watching it all - I just can’t imagine the joy and hope that the athletes from countries that are traditionally more “down and out” are feeling right now. It just seems like such a beautiful community, seeing all the countries out there together on the infield. Hopefully a sign of what’s to come.

nbc online has the parade of nations available to view - the order is kind of messed up, though and the US team actually goes through somewhere around 1hr 20 min.

You will hear the commentators states that Puerto Rico (around 30 min) coming through means the US will be around soon…but they aren’t

I found the order of the countries on Wikianswers and it looks like when nbc put the segments online, they did not put them in order, for some reason. So in a segment, you can follow the list and know who’s next, but any break means it will jump around a bit, no idea why.

Thanks Tha Ridge and Ajierene,
I actually got to watch the ceremony, but my sister missed it. I was hoping there might be a video online, so she could watch the cool ceremony.
