Will any of the riders get to march in the opening ceremony? I assume none of the eventer will since they start so soon.
per Debbie’s blog there will be a separate opening ceremony in Hong Kong. I wish that were televised.

I think only the jumpers will participate in Beijing.

I did just hear from someone in Singapore that the opening ceremonies were spectacular and to sure to watch the end of the ceremonies. :yes:
Watched it earlier online, from a few different sources. I managed to find someone that was streaming the BBC’s coverage. There was also a Moldovian channel, and a scandanavian channel (Norway I think) that I stumbled across. The quality wasn’t great, so I couldn’t make out any faces - but I have a hard time recognizing horse people without helmets 
The BBC did mention Japan’s Dressage rider which was cool.
Yao-Ming carried the flag for China and he’s accompanied by a special guest. The torch-lighting is easily as cool as the archer was. Won’t spoil it for those that haven’t seen it, but I will tell you that it caught me off guard when it got started
Did NBC not show the opening ceremonies live? Odd, as it was on at prime morning viewing time.
I guess this will be another tape-delayed, cut-up, repackaged and spoon-fed Olympics from NBC.

Yes the 4 hours and 15 minutes opening ceremonie was a blast and really beats all the other openings i have ever seen. Absolutely magnificent. It was funny to see that the American team dressed up like Frenchmen, the only thing they missed were the French baguette’s.

I really love the Ralph Lauren outfits. Got an e-mail from RL this morning showing them off. I think they’re very classy and understated.

I saw Canada come in but I didn’t notice if he was carry the flag…sorry
Adam van Koeverden carried Canada’s flag. Gold medalist in Kayak in Athens. Ian Millar may have been to multiple Games but has never medalled.
CBC broadcasted the whole Beijing opening ceremony. George and Laura Bush and Princess Ann were there. So were Henry Kissinger and wife.
Love the fireworks.

Ian Miller carried the flag in the Hong Kong opening ceremony. Gina Miles carried the U.S. flag.
